I’d say none of my friends in town are what you typed. But it’s those people’s lives and not mine, nor does it affect mine in any way, so more power to them.

Seems like y’all have really subjective feelings about the city based on what has been perpetuated in media / on this website. All fine to me. I know what the city is, and I’m glad I’m here, and I don’t plan on leaving either

I’ve been to Austin a ton. East Austin is exactly as I’ve described. I do like south Austin and Oak Hill.

Austin is nice if you have money, and don't care about homeless camps. Neither of these two factors apply to college kids

The omissions of Austin, Oxford, Charlottesville and Palo Alto are real head scratchers.

Awesome! Glad you furthered my point on what is perpetuated by the media, and glad you want nothing to be a part of it! Less people to worry about moving here

Palo Alto? I’ve been several times and to me it doesn’t have a true college town feel. It does have an upscale shopping mall that I like.

Palo Alto is a great city, but a terrible college town. You need lots of money to have a good time in Palo Alto

Rent on a decent one bedroom apartment in Palo Alto is around $4,000 a month.

The one time I've visited Palo Alto was for a Stanford football game. Yeah, it doesn't have an SEC game day vibe but it's very cool. What do you think is the best college town in the State of California?

Berkeley. However, the Marxists have too much influence there.

Not by any metric.

Anyone been to Claremont California? I would think it would be a pretty good college town with 7 cool colleges in its jurisdiction.

Any list of great college towns that has Metairie, LA on it is crap. There are no colleges in Metairie nor is Metairie anything near a college town. That is just silly.

Lol, No.

But San Marcos probably would be.

That's a good question. I've been to numerous cities in California and none really make the vibe of a college town. Maybe Palo Alto wins by default ...
