Maybe Lane knows him and didn't need to "interview" him before offering him a job. But you knew that, didn't you?

It has always been a gentlemen’s agreement, a courtesy, sort of like when a school wanted to talk to a HC about a vacancy they would contact that coaches administrator/AD before hand and ask “permission”.

Now Louisiana State fans act like they have never heard of such a thing

Shane might be a goober, but he's our goober.

For those of you that are interested (which I'm sure is nobody here), here's the conversation in context...

Anyway, by all practical account, SC upgraded at the position so I'm fine with Lane poaching Lucas.

So is it a gentleman’s agreement or an unspoken rule? I’m hearing both and neither.

Nobody cares what Shane Beamer has to say. Not even his players.

Hell, what is here to disagree with? The dude is indeed a good coach with a lot of baggage.

When we hired Kelly after 2021, I was dead set against going after Kiffin. The baggage shite was there, even though he seemed to have began to change under Saban during the Bama OC phase. He also had had only one good year at Ole Miss and he made some absolute moronic decisions, and ignored the defensive side of the ball.

The last 4 years have changed my opinion. He cut back on the in-game stupidity as well as the social media drama (though both are still there at times, proved he is one of the best portal recruiters in the nation, and fielded some damn good defenses. Bottom line the dude proved he is an elite coach and did things at Ole Miss that were thought impossible.

So at a time when we have had to fire two coaches for on-field performance in 5 years, a coach that has proven he can consistently win 10 games a year in the SEC is well worth the drama and bullshite.

Does anyone honestly believe Kiffin wanted to leave Ole Miss before the season was over? Coaches leave programs all the time. The timing was a direct result of circumstance beyond his control. Recruiting signing date and the portal opening are not things you can ignore in this day and age. I totally get why Ole Miss is pissed beyond belief, and the chances of this scenario happening to us or another team is highly likely if the NCAA doesnt correct their mistake with signing day and the portal.

Lane’s always been a turd. We knew this. What’s funny is we were replacing Sterling with a better coach anyways
