The only thing to take issue with is Saban going on air and trashing Barnett.

Everything else, who cares.

Hell, Bateman could have won the job in 2015 but was too afraid to take a hit.

I know it wasn't all his fault but the Ole Miss game in 15 is when the fan base and likely most of the team started having doubts about Bateman.

Who's to say. Honestly, with Kiffin at OC there's no telling what was communicated or how it was communicated.

I know Saban is a defensive guy, but how much say does he have as to who his OC starts at QB? Maybe Saban did feel they were the main guys but Kiffin decided to go Hurts at the last minute? Young kids get feelings hurt. Blah blah blah.

He quit in the middle of the season and was already committed to Arizona State before Alabama was ten games into the season. As a fan base, we respect most players who transfer. I remember rooting for Dee Hart and I liked seeing Kamara have success against every team except Bama.

But Barnett? frick him and his parents that raised him to be an entitled bitch.

When Hurts came into the USC game, he just played better than Barnett. Saban has to put the guy on the field who gives the team the best chance to win, or he is going to hurt everyone else on the team. Barnett looked like a deer in the headlights, Hurts was smooth and played well, simple as that.

As for Bateman, the offense was only ever going to do so well with him as QB. There was a ceiling with him.

It's his fault that he was too afraid to keep the ball on the reads when the entire defense was keyed in on the RB.

Lol at them thinking that any position at Alabama is "locked up."

The culture in general is so different now than it was 20 or 30 years ago. Back then, if you complained publicly about how things weren't fair and you didn't like the way you got treated because of choices you yourself made or because someone else was simply better than you, you'd get blasted as a whiner - especially if you were male. Do the same thing today, and you're treated like a hero whose views are necessarily more important because you were somehow "disenfranchised."

I hope both these guys are successful wherever they end up, but they weren't successful at Bama. End of story.

If either of these 2 vaginas were good enough to play QB in the SEC at a high level, they would still be at Alabama. Period, end of discussion.

I understand your point. I'm speaking of the fumble on the kickoff and the other two turnovers that he wasn't responsible for. Coker led Alabama back in that game and it became his team over the next few games.

Did you read the part where he did this so he could play sooner. How did he disrespect anyone by setting himself up to play as soon as possible. I bet most kids would do everything they could to further their career.

Seems like the right decision was made.

That doesn't justify Saban not being honest about his plans. I like how he talks about that old school attitude of competiton and not quitting but he doesn't believe in old school integrity of letting his players know where they stand.

Weird to see an attempted hit piece from ESPN. They must be low on clicks this month.

Barnett could play in the SEC. Bateman couldn't.

Hope they both succeed, especially Bateman. Feel for Bateman, guy worked his arse off for 3 years and then had it ripped away by Hurts. But, that's the way life works. Bateman stuck around and kept working hard even after all that, so I respect the hell out of him. It couldn't have been easy.

Barnett, I mean, I'm glad it all worked out for him getting to Arizona State and being eligible.........but I'd be shocked if he worked out.

He committed to Alabama. He was given every opportunity to be the starting QB at Alabama. If it doesn't work out, you don't quit to assure yourself that you play as soon as possible. You expect Saban to get in front of a mic and defend a player who quit because he wasn't good enough? He acted like a spoiled brat when a position he didn't earn was given to someone who was playing better than him.

Is this thread intended to make bama look bad? It succeeded at making both of those young men look like cowards.

I think calling them that is a little much. Sometimes shite doesnt work out. The coaching staff might very well have thought the plan they told Barnett and Bateman was the plan and Hurts just changed everything. That is life.
