It's interesting how stratified college baseball attendance figures are across the country.

Those rankings/numbers don't make a lot of sense

Just think you only needed 29 more games to do it.

Something tells me Alex Box would need to sit a few more than 10,500 if LSU only played 6 home baseball games a year.

Nice try though.

The gap is increased when you consider ticket prices.

2 seats behind home plate with a parking pass is $5,000 per year at LSU.

The top thirty six programs in total basketball attendance all had higher capacities than The Box's 10,326.

Syracuse's Carrier Dome has a capacity of 34,616 for basketball. Kentucky's Rupp Arena has a capacity of 23,500. Louisville Yum Center has a capacity of 22,090.

North Carolina's Dean Smith Center has a capacity of 21,750.

True. A&M charges a 1800 seat fee plus $22 a game for the seats behind home. @35 games (guess) that is $5,140 before paying to park.

1. LSU LSU LSU LSU LSU LSU LSU LSU

2. Yes, I am celebrating an attendance lead, it has been a rough sports year for the folks in Louisiana. We take what we get at this point.

When LSU does expand The Box, it will primarily add premium seating. The Box currently has 27 suites...

...my guess is the next expansion will add a minimum of six more suites. LSU would need to add about 1,451 seats to have a realistic chance of breaking the 400,000 total attendance barrier.

I don't think LSU will ever be passed up in attendance

If anyone could do it, it may be Miss St. next year (unless their stadium won't be completed by then---if so, then whatever year it is completed)

Where did you get this data? Is it up today because I show A&M's as 5,278.

Edit: The OP's info is from last week. A&M's has increased to 5,278. So all you people getting off to tu being ahead of A&M, you're wrong.

We really need to get this new stadium built so we can sell more season tickets, need more physical seats.

But what was the lowest basketball average? Bet it was around or lower than those top baseball.
Not even close. This past seasons statistics are not available on the NCAA's site, but the lowest Top 25 basketball attendance average was NC State at 12,641.

LSU's first place baseball attendance average would be good for 37th place behind Wichita State. Wyoming at 100th place on basketball is at 5,151, well ahead of Rice at 20th with 2,782 for baseball.

This idiotic notion that baseball is somehow a close second to football is absurd. It's a very distant third well behind basketball, no matter how much the states of Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina, and Arkansas wish otherwise.

But the total baseball attendance would be fourth, ahead of North Carolina.

364,700 tickets sold is something all but three NCAA basketball programs would love to reach in a season.

Heck, 364,700 tickets sold would be a dream for many football programs.

LSU baseball out drew Maryland football, which had a total of 354,728 attendance.

So LSU baseball attendance isn't just a close second to football. It's ahead of football attendance at many schools.

I it's on me for being too vague but I meant in the SEC. I imagine the lower basketball averages were around those higher baseball averages.

That's obviously not something you'd see across the country.

I'd like to see rankings in % of opportunities, so that it translates across sports and venues.

I might start working on something like that. I'm always looking for new ways to teach myself to use Excel.
