Swapping the 6-foot-1, 294-pound Vlachos for the 6-6, 322-pound left tackle Cyrus Kouandjio gives this unit a little more curb appeal. The five starters average 6-feet, 5.2-inches and 316.4 pounds. By comparison, Stack.com reported the average offensive lineman at the 2011 NFL combine stood 6-4 and weighed 311.5 pounds.
"We have good size on the offensive line, but I think we're very athletic in the offensive line," Saban said. "I think we have a chance to have a really good offensive line. …
"We have how many games started by the guys that we have back, and Cyrus did play a significant amount last year as a freshman."
The four who return have combined to start 95 games while the other seven offensive positions have a collective 42 starts.

"Cyrus is a very, very interesting player in terms of increasing his level of play in short periods of time," left guard Chance Warmack said. "Like he'll have something that he needs to learn one game, one practice, and he'll get it (snaps fingers) so fast that you'll forget you even taught him something. So he's picking it up so quick, it's amazing."
And, yeah, he's big. Kouandjio is an inch taller and 20 pounds heavier than his left tackle predecessor Jones.
Defensive lineman Jesse Williams said his counterparts look like the cast from "The Longest Yard" when he digs in.

quote:

"He certainly has matured in terms of his junior college experience," Saban said of Belue, who is also in the mix to return punts . "He has done a nice job of developing this spring. He's a really good man-to-man cover guy. At times, he gets a little bit unsure of himself in terms of what he's supposed to do. "I think he's definitely going to be a player that contributes and has the potential to be a starter on our team next year."

Reallllllly looking forward to seeing him and Jones in the return game next year.

The average guard, tackle, or center in the NFL in 2011 is 6-foot-5 and about 310 pounds.

In the 1960s, the average offensive lineman was 6-foot-3, 251 pounds.

1970s, the average offensive lineman was 6-foot-3, 255 pounds.

1980s, the average offensive lineman was 6-foot-4, 272 pounds

1990s, the average offensive lineman was 6-foot-4, 300 pounds

2000s, the average offensive lineman was 6-foot-4, 313 pounds

Bama 2012, the 5 starters are 6-feet, 5.2-inches and 316.4 pounds

I would say you are spot on with this. It's clear that the on field discipline that Saban has taught the players is being shown on the field at game time.

These modern day o-linemen are absolute freaks of nature. Here's what LSU's will more than likely be and they're all athletic as frick.

Chris Faulk 6'6 325lbs
La'el Collins 6'5 320lbs
PJ Lonergan 6'4 305lbs
Josh Williford 6'7 324lbs
Alex Hurst 6'6 340lbs
