I understand that in the play you posted it looked like we were playing a man under cover 1 type scenario...I agree the technique in the bump and run coverage can be fixed but man against man evans was dominating everybody except belue

See the 95 yard Evans TD.

Nothing on that play would concern me regarding talent.

Exactly. It was players not doing what they were supposed to do that contributed to that big play, and several others in the game. All fixable. There were some that were just pure talent by the Ag's too, which is going to happen when the other team has that kind of talent on offense. It's just silly for some fans to be so doom and gloom, when Saban has carried his teams to National Championships, half the time of his tenure. He hasn't forgotten how to recruit or coach.

LSU! Not 6'7 but 6'4 and 6'3..... And yes we can spread it out, and our D is 5 times better! Put it this way..... We can score 40 plus and have a very good Dline!

You're telling me that LSU's defense is 5x better than Alabama's defense? I'm not saying it's worse, but 5x better?

The title of the tread:

Some need to take this advice, even if it's their own.

looking closer at the video you posted it was clear that we were in cover 1 playing man underneath sunseri...the problem happened when sunseri onbiously got looked off by manziel in this play...But at this point in the game our coaching staff is leaving our corners on an island knowing that evans has been beating us all day...coaches are still at this point in the game saying evans if you can beat us one on one then do it...and he did it most everytime..

I think we are along the same lines of thinking because I believe we can correct these mistakes and that video you posted is why JFF is JFF. he did a great job looking off sunseri knowing it was man on the corners.

not saying we are in trouble the rest of the year but we have to get better because man coverage is a problem right now.

Before that play, it was 42 to 28 and a fumble was the only reason it wasn't 49 to 28. Keeping Manziel in the pocket was working for the most part in keeping the score down. Players just allowed themselves to get sloppy. There were moments I was yelling at the tv as to why the hell were we in man, but the score was the answer. After they settled, 35 unanswered points. Sloppy play after we were up 21 points was the main reason for their last 3 TD's.

Won't disagree with that. I think it's being addressed pretty heavily this week and will have growing pains some, but overall, I think we'll be fine.

Which means it's a scheme or coaching problem (fixable) and not a personnel problem. It's also a mismatch problem that probably cannot be addressed, only minimized.

Mike Evans would have made the catch either short or over the CB's head all day long, but if you try and play bump/run with no safety help you will give up 6 every time.

The whole game plan was minimizing A&M's offensive strengths, not shutting A&M's offense down and forcing a bunch of 3-and-outs. Alabama had a perfect game plan that EXPECTED JFF and Co. to go off. Mismatches and mistakes are part of it. That's where AJ was the key to that win. He was responsible for keeping pace and did it like a pro.

There is way too much knee-jerk reaction going around for my taste. I'm going to wait until we get a LITTLE deeper into the season before I pass final judgement on the quality of our team.
This. I hate to agree with an Alabama fan, but the season will play itself out. It's still way to early to pass judgement on most teams. The fans doing most of the bitching have undefeated squads. Us and Bama for the most part. It's funny in a way.

yeah I agree and when we went on that run is when we put belue over on evans and he did a hell of a job on him...

Seriously, I'm not worried. We just beat the best team on our schedule, and we've got 9 tune up games until the SECCG, so I think we'll be ready.

Agree. Fulton did a good job last year on him, but he played like crap this time. Didn't do the things he did last year, which was player fault.

The good thing, is I don't believe we will play anyone with near the talent overall at WR that the Ag's have. Odell Beckham will be a force to deal with come the Lsu game, and hopefully Belue will be back, or someone will have stepped up and will be playing solid fundamentals come November to help contain him.

yeah I agree that it is fixable. what hurt us is when belue went down and we had to go back to fulton and jones on evans. that was a total mismatch imo...

and with the play alahunter posted I think was an isolated incident...normally we aren't in cover 1 man under. that was obviously designed to free up blitzers to go after the safety which we failed at as well just a great read and throw by manziel

Look, our defense just got destroyed by 2 players. Yes, one of them is potentially one of the best college qbs of all time but our defense looked awful. Twice a ball was randomly thrown into the air and caught by an aTm receiver. If their defense was anything close to as good as VT then we would have lost. We are not the best team in the country this year. Oregon would tear us to shreds. LSU will probably beat us by 10
