You left out the part Malzahn himself is playing in all of this. He has Auburn in position to win its second national championship in eight years, and, of course, he's only done it so he can give Sexton more leverage.

Oh it is real, about once a week there is a LR vs NWA discussion on the Arkansas board. It is stupid but a real thing.

Winning solves most things but this was one of the reasons he wasn't my first choice. There would be a certain part of the fan base that would always dislike him, as stupid as that may be. I have nothing against Gus, think he is a solid coach but just believe there are better fits.

2 SEC championship appearances in 5 years.

Possibly 2 championships.
Possibly 2 National Title Appearances
Possibly a National Title

But please tell me what anyone outside of Alabama is doing better.

This has been a thing since civil war times. The hogs are the only unifying factor between the regions.

Maybe, but it's certainly escalated in the last 25 years with NWA getin' all gentrified and uppity. They don't know their place anymore.

What is the key source of discontent between the two? Other than just decades of rivalry?

I guess growing up in between the 2 I missed this until message boarding came along.

I love you LR and I love you NWA- you're both saf to me.

I just realized something the other day, I'm not too many years younger than Gus so assuming we both live til we are old, I am going to have to endure 'what about Gus' every time we hire a coach for the rest of my life.

Sigh... We all have a burden to bear and this must be mine.

Then they would have 1 championship and 1 appearance in 5 years.

Gus would have 2 appearances and 1 championship.

Smart would have 1 in 2 years. On pace for 10 sec championships in 20 years.

Please don't make me go any longer, it was meant as a joke. I thought the was good enough.

That would be tied for Gus' pace at the time
