Coaching searches are exciting.
Good luck, y’all.
There are some really great options out there.

Prohm's the obvious guy but that's such an uninspiring hire. You're firing a guy with a 34-38 conference record to go to a guy with a 35-37 conference record?

Rick Pitino is about to get scorched by the NCAA with a show cause this summer with the Bowen issue. Hence the reason the exile in Greece.

Meh, he had 1 very bad year and 3 good ones.

- 3 NCAAT vs 1 NCAAT
- 2 Conference Tournament Titles in a great league vs 0
- 3 Top 20 KenPom teams vs 4 #50-90 KP teams

Prohm isn't a superstar and has some warts but it'd be a clear upgrade and a solid hire for a program like ours.

I don't disagree that it'd be an upgrade but I think it'd be marginal I'd prefer someone with some upside. Bama's program has been stuck in the same place for over a decade and I don't think Prohm is the guy who's going to elevate it to a new level.

I’d take Avery if LSU is dumb enough to get rid of Will Wade.

I think he'd elevate it to a level of consistentcy beyond NIT 75-80% of years. I think that would move into NCAAT 2/4 to 3/5 years and NIT the rest. But I totally agree the ceiling for him is lower. It's one of my cons.

I'm still pretty firmly on the Steve Forbes train. I think he's the perfect package and fit for us.

None of the possibilities have initially brought big time excitement. Perhaps they'll end up being a good hire, but honestly, it is a crap shoot as to whether these potential hires will work out or not.
We can only hope, but at least we have that now.

Win a crazy NCAA tournament game only to see your 2nd favorite college coach fired.

What a day.

Considering how consistent the results have been from late Gottfried to Grant to Avery I'd really avoid hiring a guy who I think is more floor than ceiling. I'd be afraid that you'd bring in Prohm, results wouldn't really change, and you'd be further setting a ceiling on your program. Prohm is a status quo guy.

Serious question, why would he want to leave OKC?
