I think the argument could be made he was not allowed to run an offense this year.

Again, he might be great where he goes next. Who knows? I was ready to jump off a cliff when we hired Steele.

It's obvious Chip has another job lined up.....or he would make Auburn fire him and collect his buy-out.

That would be correct! They didn't even tell Bryant this weekend

Bryant knows, and he knows who will replace him.

The whole "fire the coordinators" routine is the dumbest theater in all of CFB. We all know it's bullshite most of the time and tends to only waste time and money.

That said, I think Chip probably wanted out anyway.

The more surprising part is apparently Les is going to hire him at Kansas. Stylistically, Lindsey doesn't run a Miles offense. So that should be interesting

Probably not for LSU or auburn fans, but it would be pretty funny for the rest of the rant if Les had finally learned his lesson in letting the offensive coordinator do its thing, and Lindsey was just a phenomenal offensive coordinator. That would be a tough pill to swallow for both fan bases.

Given the descriptions UGA fans gave, I expected him to be an immature rage-o-holic but he's actually been quite the opposite.

I think the culture here needed to be changed, honestly. probably some of the assistants were too comfortable. (Just a guess) Pruitt didn't like that, which is understandable, but he couldn't work with them. He wanted to straighten stuff out on his own....maybe because he didn't trust Richt to do it? (Another guess) but he definitely did get into a lot of trouble and started a lot of trouble whatever the reasons.

He definitely chews out staff during games but he's been the first person to take responsibility for game day failures.
He really doesn't have a lot of choice now, though.

That is in no way blaming Pruitt. It is just a matter of strong personalities clashing when he was at UGA.

If things can stay smooth at UT, I think he can be a really good coach. He is a very good recruiter and talent evaluator. He definitely has a strong personality, though, and if assistants can live with that, then it will be great. if not, it can be a rough ride.

Chip is a perfectly decent coordinator IMO. I suspect pretty much all Auburn fans probably feel the same.

You've gotta be pretty obtuse to not see this for what it is, Chip wanting to get out of the Gus shitshow and Gus needing to make a move to reignite hope among a fanbase who is totally tired of his shite.

Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic, etc.

if auburn hires Freeze, all of my auburn stuff goes into a sealed bin until he and Gus are gone. I will not support the hiring of an obvious and terrible cheater that was also stupid enough to make hundreds of calls to prostitutes on a school issued phone. Period.

Then he'd fit in great with Les Miles

And maybe it was just a bad match in GA?

Most definitely. I mean, he did a great job with the defense while here...just a personality thing. And, that doesn't necessarily mean it was his fault. It was just a thing.

I may not speak for other LSU fans, although I do think most feel the same way, but I wish nothing but the best for Les Miles. It was time for him to move on, but I appreciate everything he did for the school and the program. And he always handled himself with the upmost of class throughout his tenure and has never said a bad thing about LSU since he was fired, quite the opposite actually. I hope, for his sake, he did learn his lesson and lets his OC install a modern offense.

It is somewhat funny to me, however, that Les is filling out his staff with a bunch of coaches from the Southeast. Hopefully he places focus on at least few assistants with ties to where he's going to be recruiting.

Something had to be done. Let’s see how it plays out

Why doesn't Malzahn just forego an OC entirely? Most Auburn fans say he runs the offense anyway, much to some of their dismay. I know with an OC he always has a scapegoat, but I think he has one year to sink or swim this time.

Interesting since Gus still calls plays. Who will the next sacrificial lamb be to crawl upon the altar for Gus's mickey mouse offense?

It's an absolute fact that he calls plays. If you watch any Auburn game, specifically Gus, closely enough and read his lips, you'll see him speaking into his headset and say something like "Alright, let's go trips right..".

The OC at Auburn is just the fall guy for Gus. Gus is a fraud in many senses of the word.
