re: Auburn's 1958 "national championship" is from counting up votes from every week's AP Poll.

Dartmouth was a powerhouse at one time right?

And my favorite team is Yale because they have the most national championships.

Yeah, that 1872 season where they played 1 game all year long and won 3-0 was a doozy.

Or is it that 1874 season where they played 3 games, 2 against the same team that gets you fired up?

Or is it one of the other 10+ seasons like that which does it for you?

Those athletic club games were real difficult right?

Why wait over 110 years to claim it though?

Eh, not really. I'm a native Alabaman. I know how Alabama football and Alabama football fans are. It's life and death to you people. Quite literally. A Google search will show you all the murders that have happened because of Alabama football. I lived in Hoover not far from the apartment complex about 12 years ago when a woman was murdered because she told her acquaintance"I love the Philadelphia Eagles more than the Crimson Tide". Not to mention the sexual assaults, environmental terrorism and other manners of violence perpetrated in the cause of "Alabama Football". But, please, continue projecting your superiority over everyone because some sports writers 70 years ago said Alabama was a national champion. Whatever gives your life meaning and purpose, bro.

1925 was over 70 years ago, auNeck.

And, the trees deserved to die and you won't find one single person who does not agree with that. The auNecks tortured those poor trees out of a sadistic need to have a sort of hick control over them.

They lit them on fire regularly and filled them with toilet paper that had to be cleaned out with pressure washers and they were dying a horrible and painful death.

Saint Harvey heard their wails of agony and decided to put them down and take away their misery, like any gentleman among us would.

According to Google, TD started in 2001.
I like the 1993 claim because it pisses off FSU fans.

I'll allow it if that is one of the ones claimed. I haven't updated my list since Auburn started claiming, so I haven't researched them all.

But undefeated at that time is a common claim, so I allow them.

Hmmmmm, I remember seeing a purple and gold t-shirt in 2011 that read, "Tuscaloosa. Such a sh*thole even God tried to wipe it off the map".

Last year Auburn got meth cranked and claimed like 7 new national titles. I wouldn't put much stock into any of it.

Well, the most fun part is now we can say this:

If Alabama claimed titles like Auburn does, we'd have 35.

Well, more fun than that is I can say. “I’m glad LSU does it the legit way.”

I don't understand that statement. Anyway, some people believe Saint Harvey was an actual angel.

He was a good man and will forever be remembered for doing a good thing.

I am glad LSU does it the right way. I know you can claim another also, I think 1907 IIRC.

I think Alabama does also except for 1941. I'd love for them to drop that.

You said the original two rankings, 1924 and 1925, were retroactive.

Dartmouth 1925 clearly wasn't.

I know which publication ND 1924 was printed in, in early 1925, not retroactive. But I don't have a scan yet.

Dickinson, although a professor, was not very intelligent or he was an Illinois Yankee that was heavily regionally biased, to the point of being a clown-faced caricature, as they all were back then.

Dartmouth allowed more points scored on them over 8 games than Alabama allowed against them in a full 10 games.

Dartmouth played 4 non-1A teams compared to Alabama's 2 non-1A teams.

Dartmouth played no bowl game while Alabama won the already prestigious Rose Bowl against what many considered an otherworldly, unbeatable Washington team.

Out of the four teams that Dartmouth played that were actually real teams and not non-1A, two of them had losing seasons and the other two were 5-4-1 and 6-2.

Alabama goose-egged as many teams as Dartmouth played altogether.

199 or Dartmouth's total of 340 points were scored against almost actual handicapped players on glorified high school teams.

Dickinson's poll that season was a laugher. 'Dem Bammers done went and wonz the '25 national championship just like every breathing soul that watched football at that time agreed to.

Really? You don't remember a pretty major event in Tuscaloosa in 2011?

We have real champions now instead of mythical champions.

Those past champions were just political beauty contests that never crowned a true champion.

If Auburn was undefeated then their claim is fine.

No, I have no idea what you are talking about when you say God tried to wipe Tuscaloosa off the map. I don't think you do either, to be honest.
