idk if Auburn would have beaten USC, but we were definitely robbed of what would have been a great game IMO.

I always felt like they would have won. I was a bit ticked when they were not chosen to play in the game.

I don't mind them wanting to claim it... but they would have a lot better case if they had hammered VA Tech in the bowl game.

This is a insane take. They certainly were in the discussion and apparently it is still being discussed today. We can never say certainly how a game would turn out, but we can say "we think", "We believe", "might have".
There have just been too many things to happen over the years to say Team "A" would definitely beat Team"B" with absolute certainty. But, as i said bove, I have thought Auburn would have won, and still believe it would have been a great game. USC should never have been in the game with what we know now, and Oklahoma would have been the better matchup for Auburn.

You are aware Adrian Peterson and a heisman winning qb played in that game, right?
I mean, Peterson rushed for 82 yards on 25 carries with no TDs. Maybe he would have done better against Auburn, maybe not.

People talk about how USC would have dog walked us but two of our running backs and our qb went in the first round.
Damn shame fate kept us from seeing that game.
And we had the best scoring defense in the country. We allowed 11.3 points per game in 2004.
Would love to have seen that game happen.
Arkansas had the 34th highest scoring offense and the 51st lowest scoring defense.
Arkansas would not have stopped Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, LenDale White & company.
USC's defense had four 1st Team All Americans, 2 LB & 2 DL.
It would have been ugly.

I think USC had a few all Americans on that defensive line.

I remember that Florida team having equal nfl talent and better coaching too. As to the can’t play the games on paper comment, you do understand usc actually won the natty, so that would apply more to the original poster who suggested that auburn “would” have won had they been invited. You knew that tho probably

But the game was played the year before with virtually the same players in Jordan Hare, Auburn got dog walked

Natty or not, still my favorite team ever!!! Absolutely stacked.

Yeah. fricking Nall. That’s probably what cost us a shot the following year. USC and OU basically went wire to wire and poll inertia held us back from passing either. That offense under Borges was far better.
Coaching can make all the difference in the world and Auburn is probably the best example of that. 2012 and 2013 Auburn probably being the most stark example ever. Close to the same personnel but one team was winless in the SEC while the other won the conference.

Texas got asshatted by Oklahoma in 2004, so 2005 goes to someone else.

That usc team had an insanely good coaching staff probably best i had seen in my life at the time. Bama 15 is best and urban had a stacked one at uf too.

Insane how Deboer keeps having 4 loss seasons when yall claim his staff was better than Saban's of late isnt it?

Who claimed that. Pretty common knowledge 2015 bama is best staff assembled. Did you hurt your feelings, you sound like the hurts talking
