The “auburn 2004 natty” bullshite is nothing but revisionist history and wishcasting by auburn fans and the “rah rah sec sec” retards. Auburn was never in the discussion and for good reason, USC and OU were clearly better teams from start to finish that year

I think y'all would have given them a really challenging game, but I still see them winning by a touchdown or 2, they were really, really good. Y'all were also really good, but not as good as them.

Too bad they refused to play an AQ OOC game.

If only Oklahoma played a terrible Texas, just maybe Auburn gets the nod. Oklahoma shutout eventual one-loss Rose Bowl champion Texas; essentially the same Texas team that cruised next year to the 2005 national title. In fact, I’d take 2004 Texas over Auburn.
Auburn was just unlucky. They did everything right. It was all about placement. #1 and #2 went unchanged from beginning to end.

Well when you refuse to play an AQ OOC that can have consequences.

Auburn won four games against top 15 teams, Oklahoma and USC won three against top 15 teams, combined.
If you're one that thinks Auburn playing The Citadel (push over) made for an easier schedule than Oklahoma playing Bowling Green (push over), who Oklahoma bought out from Auburn's schedule, then I don't really care about your opinion.

Refusing to play an AQ OOC could have consequences. That's not my opinion, that's fact.

Yes Oklahoma beat a 4-6 Oregon team. That is much more impressive than Auburn playing four top 15 games vs. the one that Oklahoma played.

Bowling Green wasn't an AQ. That's not my opinion, that's a fact.

Did you somehow miss this?

Disagree. In 2005, Texas was the best team. Georgia and LSU were not on that level.
In 2004, that loaded Auburn team needed a gift to beat LSU, slopped it up against 6-6 Alabama, and didn’t exactly beat the breaks off of VaTech.
I’m not saying Auburn wasn’t good. But that same offensive group (Brown, Cadillac, Campbell, Obomanu, etc) played USC at home the prior year and scored 0 points.
I think ‘04 USC was even better, and nothing tells me Auburn would have flipped the outcome the following year.

I go either way. That usc team had firepower but 04 Auburn was very physical. Hate that we never got to see that matchup and we will wonder forever. Oklahoma always got in the bcs and usually got killed.

Auburn isn't beating USC and that team had similar talent to the 2001 Miami team.
USC did struggle at times during the regular season but they turned up the music in big games and blew opponents out when they needed to prove themselves.

That USC team had a better coaching staff and roster then most CFB teams ever..they would have blown most teams out easily.
