It’s a fair deal. If he does good great if have to terminate him no big deal.

Recruits are bailing on the program already.

Putting $21 million on the roulette wheel with no real plan seems like a real dumb way to run a program. Carry on.

Has there been any talk of what his salary range will look like yet? I know he was supposed to make $1.85 mil before BSU made him take a Covid related pay cut, so I'm sure you guys aren't going to break the bank with him. But I was just wondering if any numbers had leaked yet.

Honestly, Gus is about what Auburn should expect from any coach with Saban sitting across the state. Winning seasons, beat Bama at home most years, and occasionally win the West and challenge for a playoff spot. Do Auburn fans rally think this new guy will do better than that? With Saban a couple of hours northwest? Seems a bit naive.

It's not bama that got him fired. It was LSU and UGA..........not even going to mention how he shite the bed once a year against a team Auburn should beat.
The program has become stale. It has not gotten any better the last few years. In truth, it has probably regressed. I like Gus as a person. I always pulled for him as a coach, and will continue too, but it was time for a change.

I think $5 million with an $8 million buyout. I don’t know any specific details. Those are what I’ve read from Brandon Marcello

Gus’ away game record against LSU Ga & Bama got him fired. The years that UGA & LSU were down were opportunities for him to even the record but he flopped those years as well

Huh? Interesting. Nick Saban had no experience in the South before going to LSU.

Not every team can afford a Sam Pittman. We will just have to make do I guess.

Not every team can fire a coach w a large buyout without a plan. You sure did it though aubies

This is a classic case of how “not to” fire and hire.
