You don’t get to distinguish between conservative whites and liberal whites. All whites — whether of English, Polish, Jewish, etc. ancestry — are the problem, and over represented in higher education.
This also applies to white-adjacent groups, such as (east) Asians and Hispanics/Latinx.

Where's the chart for the SWAC?

I knew Auburn didn't like to admit black non-athletes, but I'm really surprised by Aggie.

Wow. As noted, lot of changes coming to Texas. It won’t be red for much longer.

If we'd a known how much trouble they'd be, we'd have picked our own damned cotton.

That's not necessarily a bad thing.

I'm sorry you couldn't get an athletic scholarship.

There is an HBCU about 30 minutes southwest of Texas A&M called Prairie View A&M. Absent some sort of outside government coercion, people usually like to hang out with others who are like themselves. A black kid in Texas can pick between two campuses offering similar majors with strong ROTC programs, but one is almost entirely populated by black students and one is almost entirely whites, Asians & Hispanics. Which campus do you think most will choose (assuming they could meet the academic requirements of both)?

That's not true, Wilbur Jackson was already on the team but true freshmen weren't eligible to play at the time.

Whether it’s a good thing or not, I don’t know… but Auburn has positioned itself to be a magnate for the wealthy.
According to data from the New York Times, the median income of parents who send their kids to various schools looks like this for the SEC:
$204,500- Vanderbilt
$143,000- Auburn
$130,900- Texas A&M
$130,200- Alabama
$129,800- Georgia
$123,900- Texas
$116,600- Ole Miss
$116,300- Arkansas
$113,900- Oklahoma
$111,900- Kentucky
$110,100- Missouri
$108,800- LSU
$106,700- Florida
$96,900- Tennessee
$95,500- S Carolina
$90,300- Mississippi State
Of the 65 football Power programs, Auburn ranks 12th, but the only schools above AU are mostly coastal private schools. Here are the Top 15 with public schools shown in BOLD
$221,500- Wake Forest
$204,500- Vanderbilt
$194,100- Boston College
$191,400- Notre Dame
$187,300- TCU
$167,500- Stanford
$161,400- USC
$155,500- Virginia
$154,000- Michigan
$146,600- Miami
$143,000- Auburn
$142,800- Virginia Tech
$135,100- North Carolina
$133,700- Colorado
$130,900- Texas A&M
But what is crazy is Auburn is in a state with one of the lowest median incomes in America, and Auburn draws over 60% of its enrollment from inside the state… and about 90% from Alabama and bordering states.
I think you can somewhat track Auburn’s increase in attracting wealthier kids with Alabama’s rise in out of state kids that started about 20 years ago. When Bama started prioritizing kids from Illinois and California, Auburn started getting the vast majority of wealthy kids from the wealthier high schools in Alabama.
