Um, you're confused. Daddy asked for money, not the other way around. Cam was ineligible. Doesn't matter that Auburn didn't pay anyone. Auburn got away with playing an ineligible player. Oh well. History now.
Wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.
Link to NCAA source that says Cecil approached Rogers/Bond? The semantics telephone game ended up to where it is common knowledge that Cecil "shopped his son". It's just not true. He didn't "shop his son" to Oklahoma, Arizona, or any other school he was recruited by. Those schools' coaches have come out and said so.
The fact of the matter, as determined by the NCAA, is that Auburn played no part in any pay-for-play scheme.
Being offered money by MSU, and refusing, does not preclude him from playing at Auburn.
You're just wrong.

Technically, no.
Kenny Rogers asked for the money. Bell never once heard Cecil ask him for money.
But frick it... who needs facts?

ow, I just lost all respect for Around the Horn. They were talking about this, and basically all of them except Woody Paige said that Auburn was guilty, and all this proved was that the NCAA is a sham. Woody Paige said that from this point, we have to say Auburn is innocent and so was Cam, but the rest just said there is now way we aren't guilt
well everyone lost respect for Auburn last year so...

This thread should be stickied as long as the ATPB thread.

ETA: Tony Kornheiser says NCAA is trying to protect its big teams............as Ohio State, Miami, LSU get in trouble.
Wilbon has actually been very fair through the whole process.

According to USATODAY.com, Cameron Newton’s dad, Cecil Newton Sr., has admitted to seeking money from former Mississippi State player in exchange for son signing with university.

Irrelevant and not part of what I posted.

You can call me wrong all you want. Just admit you played an ineligible player and got away with it. No big deal.

Not a matter of respect, the haters were resentful toward AU/Cam because they crashed their party. The LSU and Bama fans who bitched were the ones who could not stand to have bama's little brother doing something that they thought only they could achieve. This whole case was blown up because of jealousy.
