It has no bottom. I started the roots in the ground then added the ring later. As the plants got bigger, I added a mixture of raised bed soil and manure slowly over time. Didn't seem to bother the roots to be covered like that.

I could bonk the wall next to the thermostat and make it come on. I would then get in bed with my head under the vent. Yes, that's how fricking hot my parents kept our house.

I have one of those square aluminum beds in the back of my garage that I have trouble growing most things in due to lack of water. Thinking of converting the whole thing to asparagus as that is something the wife and i could eat multiple times a week.
