That storyline seems quaint by today's numbers.

Bryce Young got paid $ 1 million. I think we can quit talking about any players in the past...especially the ones who were investigated thoroughly and cleared.

And didn't Alabama shell out $250k for Albert Means then murder a booster to cover it up? Let's not pretend Alabama hasn't had their share of dumpster fires since Bear went home to be with the lord.

Now do Alabama:

Took a Bear protege less than two years to run him out of the sport before drinking himself to death a month later.

Bear successors couldn't beat him either so they threw bricks through their window.

Paid $200k, in the 90s, for a fat lineman who never contributed.

Spent most of decade on probation and vacating wins.

Got left high and dry by Dennis Franchione for Texas A&M all places.

Mike Price and Destiny lol.

Received The Thumb + 1 from "Pine Box".

Fans kill each other after losses.

Fans kill trees after losses.

Fathers defend football players who abuse their daughters, cause Roll Tide.

*So pissed I can't add lost to T.J. Finley and Bryan Harsin to this list because Tank ran out of bounds.

Terry Bowden detailing the way Auburn paid players

But this witch hunt to avoid paying a coach they hired only a year ago may be the worst yet.

According to Homicide Lt. Joe Scott in a press conference, Young tripped while carrying a salad and soft drink up a set of stairs and hit his head on an iron railing. The fall onto the railing opened a large gash across the top of Young's head, causing him to drop to the floor bleeding profusely. After lying on the floor for some time, Young got up and walked bleeding through several rooms of his spacious, two-story house before ending up in his second-floor bedroom. According to Scott, Young walked past several telephones but didn't place an emergency call.

We cannot rule out that REC whacked Young

Mostly accurate but we got at least 12 legit national championships out of it. Have a good day.

Auburn football dumpster fires we’ve witnessed over the years

If anything, Auburn's dumpster fires always turn into golden geese.

quote:

Doug Barfield

After Barfield was fired, Pat Dye was hired. You know the rest of the story.

quote:

Pat Dye and ‘keep it down home cuz’

After Pat Dye resigned, Auburn went 11-0 the very next season.

quote:

Terry Bowden screwing his secretary and getting fired after going 20-1 his first two yeasr

After Bowden was fired, Tommy Tuberville became HC, beat Bama six times in a row, and went undefeated in 2004.

quote:

Secret flight to Louisville to interview Petrino

After JetGate, Auburn went 13-0 the very next season.

quote:

Tommy “Pine Box” Tubberville duck hunting in Arkansas then getting skull dragged 36-0 by Saban

After Tuberville was fired, Auburn hired Chizik, who delivered a 14-0 national championship season to the Plains.

quote:

5-19 Gene Chizik is hired

I remember the video of the dude yelling at the Auburn AD on the tarmac about Gene Chizik's 5-19 record at Iowa State. That was on December 13, 2008. 758 days later (less than 25 months), Auburn hoisted the crystal ball in Phoenix, capping off one of the most memorable championship seasons of all time.

quote:

$180,000 for Cam

This was not a dumpster fire. Auburn people paid for Cam. Cam was an unstoppable force in the SEC in 2010, won the Heisman, and led Auburn to a national championship. Auburn never got in trouble for paying Cam either.

quote:

49-0 Iron Bowl in 2012, Chizik paid to go away

Less than one year later, Auburn broke Tide hearts on the most memorable play in college football history.

quote:

Gus loses 4 games a year 7 years in a row and gets paid $24 million to go away
Hire a West Coast dude who goes 6-7 and screws HIS secretary

All this tells me is the Auburn luck is about to change. Let me be the first to congratulate Auburn on their national championship next season.

There's definitely nothing quite like being an Auburn fan.
