Our pitching was thin all season long (hence the 0-8 in rubber matches). Yet we cobbled it together enough to play in a Regional Final (with a Monday game) and it was down to the last inning in both matchups. And absolutely electric.
He can go cry somewhere else.

He exteneded Sanders twice which he even alluded to in the clip. Which I don’t care but why bring it up? These teams have plenty of pitchers for five games.

He wasn't talking about his team, dude. We didn't need to have a pitcher throw 100+ and then do it again in the same regional, but some other teams did.

If I were him I’d be more upset about them being scheduling a top 8 seed for the midnight games.
They weren't scheduled for those times. There were tons of rain delays. 2pm First Pitch ended at 10pm. This board is so dumb sometimes.

Nobody NEEDED to. That’s the point. They chose to.

It’s called bullpen management. It’s why we didn’t pitch Jelkin Sunday.

And that's what he complained about.
Auburn Coach Butch Thompson raises concern about the amount of starting pitchers that were coming back, throwing again, and totaling over 100 pitches during Regional weekend of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
Where was he talking about his team?

No, he’s advocating for a format change to fix a problem that doesn’t exist outside of coaches prioritizing wins over players. Maybe he should advocate for pitch count limits and mandatory rest if he’s TRULY concerned.

You're oddly attached to this. So much so that hyperbole is what you're down to.

I don’t think you know what hyperbole is. In the clip, he referenced one of his own players being extended over two separate outings he brought it up. He talks about the format, forcing players to pitch in uncomfortable situations. That is not reality. The reality is that he and these other coaches would rather win and risk in injury to an arm than lose and have their season end because they took a chance on an arm that they don’t feel is as capable.

If he and the other coaches don’t have the self-control to look after the “student athletes“ then maybe they should draw up some legislation to take it out of their hands. That’s not hyperbolic. That’s an actual solution that doesn’t ruin the best weekend of college baseball all year.

According to the SEC website yesterday afternoon, the Auburn game last night was scheduled for a 8 pm cst start. It started at 8:06 cst, a six minute delay. It ended at 11:35 cst. Auburn is about 20 minutes from the eastern time zone. For fans living there the game ended after midnight.
For whatever reason, Auburn’s last two games ended after midnight est.

I don’t think it takes a rocket scientist to figure it out… regional tournaments can create situations that put coaches in very difficult spots… weighing what might be best for the team vs what’s best for a player. It is what it is.

He said it 2 days ago after the regional. I guess technically it was last month since it was on May 31.

The winner takes all contest initially scheduled for 5 p.m. CT will now start at 8 p.m. due to an approaching storm. It’s the second day in a row Auburn has had a game’s start time delayed, as bad weather has been prevalent throughout the weekend.
