Would have wins over
A 12-1 Oregon pac 12 champs
#4 UGA
#3 or #4 Alabama
The 2 losses would be
23-20 @ #1 lsu
@ 11 Florida

Sure, why not?
It’ll fun to watch the bitching of everyone else

Maybe an 8 team playoff.

Over Bama and UGA, yes...but we'd need more help than that. We'd need Baylor, Oklahoma, Minnesota and Penn State to lose...and if Ohio State loses their championship game, they are still ahead of AU and should be.
That said, if we beat Bama and UGA in dominating fashion AND do so with what has been viewed as the achilles heel looking great (Bo Nix), who knows. But very difficult to imagine all of that happening.

Does Bo Nix get back into the Heisman discussion if that happens?

dumbest post of the day nominee

That seems silly
If we got into the CFP I certainly wouldn't want to see any SEC team in the first game.

If you beat Alabama and Georgia, youd have at least some sort of case, and the committee, people in general, would be talking about it. Yes, at least would be a topic of conversation.

The only way you get in without a championship is if you are unequivocally 1 of the 4 best teams. A 2 loss team doesn't fit that criteria.

I looked, and 538 gives y'all an 8% chance to make the playoff if you win out.
It's very unlikely, but crazier things have happened. You need LSU, OSU, and Clemson to stay undefeated.
You also need Baylor and Oklahoma to both lose again (likely that one of the two runs the table). You also need a 2-loss PAC12 champion, which is very unlikely.
But, yeah, if all those things happen, Auburn would make the playoff.

With you up until the 2 loss pax 12 champion. I think if Oregon finishes 12-1 and all of the other things you mentioned happen, Auburn is in by way of head to head match up

Auburn is not getting in with two losses unless a bunch of teams lose.

I actually disagree with this. I think it should be earned. A 2 loss AU would be more deserving than Bama.
