According to this article, which was retweeted by WJOX, as long as Nick Saban is at Alabama Auburn or any of the other SEC Schools dont stand a chance of hiring a decent coach. I really don't understand this type of logic and it's repeated by the media as if it's a fact.
quote:

Taking a job opposite Saban? That's career suicide. In six years at Alabama he has run off two coaches at Auburn (Tommy Tuberville resigned, or something, in 2008) and helped run off three at Tennessee. Saban could even be the reason Meyer left Florida. That's not a sure thing -- who knows what Meyer was thinking in 2009, and then 2010? -- but it has to be considered. Sharing a conference with Nick Saban is like sharing a steak with a lion. Only one of you wins that battle. And it's not you.

quote:

This is the buzz saw awaiting the next Auburn coach. Les Miles has survived and even thrived at LSU, but he's merely sharing the SEC West with Saban -- not the same state. Regardless, bully for Les Miles. Whatever he's earning, he should walk into his boss' office and say, "Double it."

LSU would have to give it to him, because the alternative is even scarier: Doing what Auburn is doing right now. Trying to find a coach smart enough to compete with Nick Saban -- without finding a coach dumb enough to think he actually can.

The reason Les Miles, Kevin Sumlin & aTm, and even Cam Newton beat Saban is because they viewed him as just another HC of a CFB team and not some mythical figure that was invincible.

Any coach that does not approach the Auburn or any other SEC job with that type of attitude will never stand a chance and I don't want him at my school

What an illogical piece of horse shite. Saban didn't have anything to do with Meyer leaving Florida.

Does he think the LSU job is not attractive enough to get a top tier coach if Miles leaves?

I think he is saying that there are only a small handful of coaches that can compete with Saban, and Miles is one of them. The rest don't go on the market very often.

His heart attack and hospital record say otherwise. IF that's not the case then it's clearly Tim Tebow leaving Florida. Take your pick: nick saban made his arse quit or he was heart broke over tebow leaving

I think the point of the article is having to compete head to head instate with Saban; however, as difficult as it can be I think it is not just Saban but Alabama is the state school and I am sure that doesn help. Coaches weren't scared to come to the sec when Saban was at LSU. I think Bama and Saban make it formidable and not just Saban himself. That said of Auburn only loses to LSU and Bama Chizick would still be in a job. To expect less than two losses every year in this day and age of parity in cfb is unfair to the coaches and players.

Yea who could ever compete with a coach with one conference title in 5 years.

Even funnier considering 3 other SEC schools have won national titles under saban's watch at alabama.

I think it's two fold for whoever considers that job.

1. They have to compete against the best of the best not only in the same conf, and division, but also in the same state.

2. (this is the bigger factor) Aub may be under sanctions in the coming years and whoever gets interviewed has to be considering that his future team may not even be bowl eligible, or down on scholarships, for the first few years of his contract.

those 2 things together make the job only enticing for someone like Petrino, or another Chizik/Shula type guy...

That's the thing, Saban can and has been beat so why the media continues to perpetuate this myth baffels me.

I'm sure his medical records diagnosed him with a Saban-induced heart attack.

Pretty much everyone (outside of bama fans and a few lsu fans) do not think this is the case (impending sanctions). In fact many think Robinson will eventually be able to sign with AU if he still choses to.

And for the second year, it didn't even matter.

It's like killing Jason Vorhees. He's just going to get up and kick your arse during your gutwrenching sobs of relief.

This is the attitude I'm talking about . . . Don't you guys still have to play Georgia Saturday? Do you expect them to roll over and play dead?
