Auburn returned defense for the most part. The question is will Golesh SF offense be better than Freeze. Less. Talent on offense but potentially way better coaching. Jury is still out on Qb/Oc

You're selling Golesh short. He'll have a good 7-8 win year, but beware of the future.

This is not the "general consensus" at all.
Before coaching a game he has came in and recruited much better than anyone realistically expected, he has hired a solid staff and even got one kf the better DC in the league to stay on when he could have went just about anywhere (Ohio State threw the kitchen sink at him for their DC job previously).
AU will probably go 6-6 give or take a game either way. But I would bet anything that it will at least look competent on the field this year. Whereas, under Freeze, it looked like they were making it up as they went. Not to mention ol Hugh was letting the inmates run the asylum while he was working on lowering his handicap. Golesh looks to have (again, this is just the feeling around the program before he has donned the headset inside JHS) a good mix in being able to handle the money/new age side of the game while still getting those same kids to buy in to the bigger picture while having accountability.
Plus, there is some decent talent on the field. We are thin at a couple spots depth wise. But the ones that I think will be starting could play for anyone in spots. OL is a complete toss-up. I just hope to see some consistency from that group. There are guys that have played in, and know, Golesh's system at every group on the offense. The most important being the QB. So that should help in smoothing the transition. Defense didnt lose a whole lot like the offense. DL is thin on paper but there are some studs that will be out there first
As has been stated, the schedule is tough. Always is at Auburn. So we wil see. Anyway, WDE.

I’ll take the over big time on that prediction. Auburn will have one of the better defenses in the conference …. which will keep them “in” to most games this season.
My prediction was they’d be 4-0 when they travel to Knoxvegas on Oct 3rd
