Every time someone builds a deck, we add to the coaches payment warchest. Add the fact that material cost went up by 30% last year, we are underspending. How did oil do last year ?

No we won’t.

As stated in another thread, this is the sum total of everything AU is committed to paying over the next 5 years.

To compare, TAMU committed to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $110 million from 2017-22 when they hired Jimbo.

I’m sure the OP considers that money well spent.

It's a desperate and, frankly, sad attempt to keep tossing aside coaches in the belief that one good coach is all that separates them from Alabama.

While knowing their greatest coach ever MIGHT break the top 5 at Alabama. Maybe.

it’s not even true but Alabama has never fired coaches to keep up with Auburn...

Anyone else think we have our priorities mixed up when it comes to sports?

I think giving a decent but not great coach like Malzahn that contract was really dumb. LSU is going to be in the same position when they get rid of Oregeron this year or next. No one else was hiring these guys and even if they did there were other just as good coaches out there will to work for less. I get giving massive contracts to coaches with a proven record but thats like 7 guys

I would normally agree, but I think Arkansas might've actually hired Gus when he got that extension. I was of the feeling then...like many other Auburn fans...that they should've called his bluff.
I don't think anybody was hiring Chizik when he got his extension either. And I agree about Orgeron too.

Where did that figure come from? They only owe Gus & Co. $28,500,000 (only ) Was Steele able to double dip from Auburn and Tennessee? If so the guy made bank for doing next to nothing. He must have some kind of photo collection or something.
