Maybe so, but when you are publicly asked if you had knowledge of a situation, and you emphatically deny (instead of simply stating "no comment" or "I'll only be answering football related questions") you prepare your anus for the oncoming media assault when that's found to be false

What was Joe Paterno supposed to do? He didn’t see Sandusky in the shower with a 12 year old

Oh, and McMurphy is wrong in the linked post. This would not be a Title IX violation as the alleged abuse did not occur within the program or institution.
And employee of the school beating his wife, while repugnant, is NOT a Title IX issue.

Paterno and the victims should have immediately reported it to law enforcement. This was a serial situation and not isolated to one person.

The allegations against Urban are completely different than those against Paterno.
Urban was under no duty to protect his coach’s wife, whereas Paterno was under a duty to protect the kids who were at his football camps.
This is a complete non-story. Sure, it looks bad that Urban may have left a woman beater on the staff and perhaps even lied about knowing of the allegations against the coach. However, that knowledge will not result in any actual ramifications, other than a media onslaught.
Furthermore, is Brett McMurphy really basing his claim that Urban had knowledge of the alleged abuse on the fact his wife and the other coaches’ wives knew? That’s weak sauce.

Paterno was under legal obligation to report abuse by an employee within the program. In this case, the abuse was occurring at programs that were hosted by the University and in some cases on the campus itself.
Urban Meyer is under no legal obligation to protect the wife of an employee.
Morally not much if a distinction, but legally it's a HUGE difference.

Yep, this issue is beyond him hiring and keeping the coach. If the texts are true then he lied to the media and knew for a few years. That is going to be a much bigger issue going forward.

Looking forward to Alabama’s newest offensive consultant: Urban Meyer

I’m thinking people are more concerned that he may have known about the abuse than they are about lying to the media.

Who has said that Urban Meyer has committed a crime?
Posted on 8/1/18 at 10:24 am to Roger Klarvin
Urban Meyer once said Aaron Hernandez is a "good kid".
Meyer is a self righteous POS.

Domestic violence must be reported to police period, not an employer. Meanwhile once both sides are on record in pre court proceedings, the employer could begin to act.
If you are aware of potential domestic violence, sexual assault, etc - and you don't do anything, then you are comitting Misprison Of Felony.
quote:
Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both
If your employer learns of a potential felony that you are committing, and doesn't report it, they are also guilty of a crime.
Presuming he knew prior to charges filed, of course.
