I wouldn’t say they are mailing it in, it’s the quality of talent they are able to afford compared to the other sec programs who are investing more and quality depth. One key injury can throw a huge stick in the spokes.
It’s my opinion that the program is holding on to Sam as long as the bottom doesn’t completely fall out until all the dust settles on this nil crap. I don’t think any quality coach would want to come here with Sam’s player budget and salary so firing him could open the door to another chad type desperation hire.
I don’t blame Sam completely on the situation, he’s willing to hire and fire coaches and try to keep a quality staff. He wants to win worse than any of us. Until big money shows up like basketball we’re going to get what we get.
But as I said, that’s just the way I see it. I’ll hang up and listen.

Apathy set in after Chad. Haven't cared too much since.
I'm not sure we will ever really compete at a high level again. Football is to expensive and competitive. Sure, we have some really big time donors, but we don't have a shite ton of them. No one or two people/organizations are going to foot the bill really needed for an entire team. You would bleed money and there is no monetary ROI.
Arkansas is financially conservative if anything.

Sam Pittman was that coach that always emphasized having fun out there is more important that winning.

Arkansas FB died when a self righteous prick named Jeff Long fired Bobby Petrino in the spring of 2012. Self Righteous prick then proceeded to hire Les Miles who, ironically enough, was fired for inappropriate conduct with female students. The same reason Long fired Petrino. Fortunately, Self Righteous prick went down with the ship at Kansas. Looks like Long is toxic and nobody will touch him. Karma, like water, seeks its own level.

Not even in the same ballpark
Chad Morris went 4-18 and 0-14 in conference. We got our arse whipped by Western Kentucky and North Texas at home 45-19 and 44-17.
Matt Luke went 15-21 and 6-18 in Conference.

Now we're stuck because we make a bunch of money just by being in the conference, even though we have never and will never be competitive.

It didn't die then but it was the beginning of the end.
The only reason the SEC wanted both Arkansas and South Carolina is because they wanted an SECCG.
If that didn't happen then Arkansas would have stayed in the SWC and eventually to the Big 12.

The admin we have right now has admitted to people in private that they don’t think we can compete In the sec in football so they just mailed it in. It’s why we don’t keep up with the rest of the conference financially. They don’t care to promote the nil because Hunter is against it. We have an awful AD who was too cheap to hire Kiffin, settled on a career Oline coach and has so little respect for the place he’s employed he just expects us to lose. And people like clark14 just eat it up and are content. They’re happy with a 4-8/6-6 football team and believe it when they get told the line we just can’t compete, we just can’t get the money. Never mind the fact the reason we can’t get the money is because we don’t try. Hunter is the same way in basketball but lucky Tyson bailed his arse out after he ran muss off. Hopefully by 2030 we’ll have a real AD who will do what it takes to compete in the toughest conference in college football.
