5. Oklahoma State (only older fans)
6. Mizzou
I’d say this is pretty accurate. My ideal yearly football schedule would have all these teams included from the SEC and then Okie State be our annual OOC game that A&M was supposed to be many years ago.

Mizzou Arkansas in basketball is a rivalry that both sides can for sure get behind though. I will say that.
It’s about to get fun with both teams now on the rise.

Absolutely. I’d say Kentucky, Texas and Mizzou are easily our biggest basketball rivalries going forward. I imagine OU will ramp up pretty quick as well once we start playing them regularly.

Hate everyone except South Carolina, ms state, and UGA. But as far as most hated:
1. Texas
2. Ole miss ( level of respect here too though, always entertaining matchup in baseball and football)
3. Aggies
4. Lsu
5. Auburn

Mizzou and Uk are definitely basketball rivals though for the hogs

In my opinion for Arkansas:
1. Texas
When Texas does arrive, the Horns and Hogs will be a bigger rivalry than some others..... at least to Arkansas. As is always mentioned, Texas does not necessarily see us a rival but we've had some all-time classics and have pretty well whipped them of late.
2. LSU
As for LSU, same thing but we've had much better luck against them and knocked them out of the SEC championship at least once. My nephew who is a bigtime LSU fan says he and friends always worry about the Arkansas game as you never know what will happen. Now they may not see us as a rival but it seems to me that LSU/A&M is more contrived than LSU/Arkansas.
3. Ole Miss
This was huge back in the day and my in-laws used to travel to Jackson a bit. That was an intimidating trip. Every time I've been to an Arkansas/Ole Miss game, it's been competitive and there is a lot of back and forth between the Ole Miss players and Arkansas fans. The Shark's coaches let them get away with a lot and don't pay attention it seems.
4. Missouri
As people have said, it's contrived but both schools are similar enough in the grand football scheme and close geographically. Arkansas took Frank Broyles away, Mike Anderson away (no big gain for the hogs) and a few players including Trevon Brazile which stirred the pot. Arkansas feels it's much better than Missouri and should be viewed that way but it's just not the case. It's sort of the way LSU feels about Arkansas I'd assume, only LSU can back it up for the most part.
5. Oklahoma
On the horizon, Arkansas and OU have a lot of potential. Likely will never rival OU and Texas but if the Hogs pull off a few wins early on, the animus will really start to fester and the proximity of the schools will add to it. No question OU has had the better program and some of that that has a lot to do with coaches and kids from Arkansas who went over to OU (Switzer, Eric Mitchell, Keith Jackson etc.) and now Pittman growing up in OK. Baker Mayfield scoping for chicks in Fayetteville and getting chased down and tackled by a Fayetteville police officer the year before his Heisman etc. Plus their fans are obnoxious as hell. Could get interesting for sure.
For Arkansas, there are cultural nuances at play as well. A spectrum from Southern to midwestern .
Most Southern to most midwestern: OM, LSU, UA, UT, OU, MO

I wonder how long it will take for Arkansas and Mizzou to climb up each other's lists as we continue to play each other annually while not playing at least some of these other schools. It's going to happen at least to some degree. Right now, I'd rank Mizzou rivals as follows:
1. Kansas
2. Nebraska
3. Illinois
4. Arkansas
5. Oklahoma
6. Colorado
7. Kansas State
8. Iowa State
Arkansas wasn't on that list at all a decade ago. I could realistically see the Hogs passing everyone but Kansas. Especially since Arkansas is the only school we still play every year. I don't see the Nebraska or Colorado game every returning. Illinois and Kansas refuse to schedule us permanently. Kansas State and Iowa State are lesser priorities. Oklahoma is probably coming back as an annual game, but that has never been a consistently competitive game.

You know when the hatred was real when one game fans from both teams got into fist fights and they both avoided each other for 20 years.
Posted on 4/27/23 at 2:35 pm to BreakawayZou83
I fear that other than the very rare in season game the only time y'all are going to see Nebraska is if you get lucky during bowl game selection.
Oklahoma could heat back up if you get them every year.
As for us... well I'm not going to surprise folks by saying Texas, Ole Miss, LSU in that order. I'd probably surprise some folks by putting Tulsa on the list ahead of some SEC teams but nowhere near the top.

I know we've talked about this plenty but I love our rivalry on the gridiron and diamond. Never predictable!

Pretty easy, Texas is number 1, Missouri is dead last.
With Missouri being our last game of the year now we basically shut down the season early. It's kind of ironic because we tend to lose to them every year.. funny thing is though no one cares. When we played LSU we could get up for that game because it was important, but nobody wants to watch Missouri, there is no value in that game.

If our rumored permanent opponents are accurate (Texas, Ole Miss, Mizzou), I could see Mizzou passing A&M and eventually challenging LSU in our football rivalry hierarchy. While we have a ton of history with Texas and A&M, I think most don’t realize how many times we played Ole Miss and LSU prior to joining the SEC. Those series didn’t start in 1992 like our matchups with State, Bama and Auburn did so it’s a little tougher to jump those schools immediately because we have a lot of history with them.

What I've gathered from this thread is that it mostly depends on geographical location and time period. Since we're the only major sports team in the state our fanbase is just so spread out throughout Arkansas. People from south Arkansas probably can't stand LSU, northwest Arkansas the same for OU, and east Arkansas the same for Ole Miss. And then we have a ton of alumni in DFW who could say the same for A&M/Texas.
During the 90's we also played Tennessee every year as our permanent opponent and our fans really didn't like them either but it's mellowed out a bit since then (football at least).

How’d the last game against Mizzou go for LSU? How’d that basketball game go last year?
Shut the frick up. Nothing in this thread pertains to your drama loving arse.
See you later gay boy.

Mizzou and South Carolina were littered with NFL talent. Just because Georgia didn’t win don’t mean shite. Mizzou and SC finished top5. Name another year where 2 teams finished top 5.
The East was at a historic high point bitch tits.
The East’s 4th best team lost to Auburn by a fluke. East was up.
