I thought there was an SEC rule against this?

It still has to be approved by the ABC.
BWA and Baum is included in the requests but no immediate plans to server there.
It will only be available in the club seating sections.
Arkansas was said to be the 8th SEC team to have such services at stadiums.

I thought there was no written rule but a gentleman's agreement. Could be wrong, though.

OP is misleading
It is to sell booze in the premium areas. It is not like Joe Six Pack will be able to buy booze at the stadium. It seems like these stadium upgrades are not so much seating additions as making more spots where folks can buy booze. Now it will be Fat Cats and upper middle class folks.
On a side note, what self respecting male would order wine at a football game?

Selling wine and beer results in intoxicated fans, who are prone to violence and impaired driving following the game.
Strange that a school so concerned w/ safety makes this move...

We're going to do the same when Commonwealth is completed.
The average ticketholder wont be able to purchase it. Only people in boxes, club seating, etc will be able to.

Box owners have been allowed to stock their box with whatever Alcohol they wanted for games for years now.

I agree

The move is being made because the corporate folks are moving in who just use sports to make business deals. Bad for the average fan and bad for the folks that get stuck with bad deals because some guy was doing business outside the office and letting something else sway their logic.

A majority of fans are already intoxicated before entering the stadiums and they bring booze in anyway.

They didnt serve beer at the SEC Championship game. it was specifically noted, because the Georgia Dome normally does serve beer. In fact, I think at the Chik Fila Bowl, they serve Beer. Its an SEC thing.
