Let's just replay a little history...
When A&M left, Aggie AD said we wanted to continue the series and would play anytime anywhere. Texas felt they could "shut us out of the state" by taking their toys and going home.
Don't forget the "our schedule is filled until 2026" bs they spewed around 2013 or 2014.
Since then, every few years Texas looks at their home schedule and reads the complaints from their season ticket holders and the question gets floated out through the media in different forms.
Truth is, there is no real benefit to A&M playing Texas at this point. They are somewhat marginalized by their own network due to lack of distribution and Oklahoma has simply owned them for more than a decade. From the A&M point of view, just better to leave them out there rotting on the vine. So they do the next best thing (in their minds) and start booking other SEC West teams.
Really doesn't bother me as a fan. Will be pulling hard for Arkie to beat them this year. If they don't will get a good laugh at Arkie. It's a win-win for A&M fans.
I thought I would miss the series when we left. I grew up on it. However, truth is, I have not watched a Texas - or any Big XII game - since we left the Big 12. Surprisingly, I am fine just like it is.

I’ll also add that when we said we would like to continue the series tu started to add provisions, one of which was that when played in Austin it would be exclusively distributed through the LHN. We walked away and are better for it in literally every measurable aspect.
On another note; we are reaching the bottom of the barrel in rant subjects a little too early in the off season. This one usually doesn’t pop up until early August if my memory is correct.

Wouldn’t an annual Texas game pretty much guarantee A&M would never play for a title? I just don’t see them having a winning record against Texas, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, and the Mississippi schools consistently.An annual loss to Texas would also eliminate the step stool that is their SEC recruiting pitch.
