This guy is an alter or an idiot, probably both. Arkansas and Texas can be considered rivals. Maybe not like it used to be before Arkansas left the SWC, but rivals none the less.
Pay no attention to this child. There was a time a car with Texas plates couldn't buy gasoline in Arkansas. Had to fill up in Texarkana, TX. before heading to Fayette-nam or Little Rock.

The thing about the '60s is the Texas vs.Arkansas game was arguably the best rivalry game in the country as far as stakes and competitiveness.
OU and ATM were both down that decade having only a couple of good teams. But Arkansas was elite for seven or eight of the seasons and Texas pretty much was every year but '66 and '67.

Yeah, but I like to see their occasional beating of you.

Have a downvote.
Playing Ark is one of the only things I lived about joining this wall-eyed conference.

It was a great series for 10 years. It was a great 10 years. Arkansas was a legitimate top 5 program in the country. Frank Broyles was a legend. The 1969 game was an all time classic, helping to usher in the age of television to college football.
Outside of that it's only meant something to Arkansas fans.
Texas fans genuinely want to see OU and A&M lose every game. Who cares how Arkansas does? We've never cared outside of the 60s, even when Arkansas was good. But the Texas game is a jihad for them.
This guy knows. Randy Peschel put the Arkansas losers to bed many moons ago. Arkansas was a flash in the pan and theres decades of results that show it. They arent anywhere good enough to be considered Texas rival. Texas Tech would have a better claim and they have zero claim. Just like Baylor and TCU. Arkansas left the SWC and became a doormat.

Read what you just posted. Those sister banging yokels wouldnt give us gas. No one in Texas ever even thought about such behavior when they traveled down. You think that makes us rivals?

Yet lead the series 4-3 since joining the sec and won the last swc game between the two. texas is average at best now with a couple of decent years sprinkled in. Too bad you are only 12 years old, you missed some good history between the programs.

Distance and time has cooled Ark/Tex
It's a rivalry and a very real one.

Arkansas was a doormat in the SWC before the 60s.
The situation currently is nothing new.

You must be young. They were and still are a rival. Just because it’s been dormant for a lot of years doesn’t change that.

Arkansas has LSU and Ole Miss as rivals - Hogs have now play Aggies more than Horn in series history -
Texas is likely 7th on Arkansas' list - behind State Bama & Auburn too due to the most recent 34 football seasons -
Hogs view playing Texas like USC views playing the old north state ACC foes - a necessary chore such as taking out the trash or scrubbing the toilet -

I kind of agree with this. Texas' only real rival is Oklahoma.

This ended just like I thought it would for the OP.

Good call. You don't want them as a rival. They still won't shut up about Auburn because Arkansas man Gus used to beat their eyes out every year.
Is that where Gus heading after Pittman is done as the Arkansas HC?

Arkansas left Texas behind decades ago only for Texas to come begging to sit at the cool table.

What a display of your shallow recent knowledge. In the old SWC it was as fierce rivalry as ever seen. 1969…The Game of the Century . Attended by the President. Number 1 vs 2 …Natty at stake..not a rivalry? Lol educate yourself:

I have a lot of gratitude to Arkansas for leaving the SWC. After the NCAA lost their monopoly in 1984 with the Supreme Court decision in terms of negotiating TV contracts, the SWC was a dead man walking. Texas and Texas A&M extorted the conference for a few years trying to make the revenue numbers work, but that wasn't a long term solution. Then to leave the conference they had to pull Baylor and Texas Tech with them for political purposes. But Arkansas leaving started the death knell in a conference with 4 private schools, a couple of smaller enrollment regional schools, and then the two bigger names all in one state. The conference needed to die.

Great! Thanks for the update. We definitely wondered where you stood on this subject.
Where Arkansas/ Texas fits into a rivalry conversation typically comes down to age. If you were around to see some of the old SWC games, there was definitely a rivalry. Sounds to me like you were born after we escaped to the SEC, so it makes sense to have limited perspective.
Personally, I despise any team using any hue of orange as a base color. Not sure what it is about that color that breeds obnoxious fans, but the Rant is chock full of of orange tards.

That was a good game. I was in my first year at LSU and they had a lot students watching the game on TV in the Union. Wasn't the president of the U.S. at that game?
