He has made a living of being very mediocre with running QBs that can't throw. Cam Newton and Nick Marshall padded any winning percentages because they could actually complete a pass thrown more than 10 yards down the field.
Jeremy Johnson, Sean White and Jarrett Stidham were not runners. Bo Nix was - and he had a decent arm - but by that point in Gus' AU career, he refused to recruit any OL over 2 stars.

I think these years were semi forgettable for me, with my own team too. I think we had Trevor Knight when you guys had Stidham. Idk, the lost Sumlin years for me. I did watch the Jeremy Johnson era bc off the hype he had coming in. The media was hyping him before he started. That was rough bc I was hoping he would kill it.

Gus’ quarterbacks have a long and proud history of passing the ball backwards. It is not a bug of the system, it is a feature. While Jefferson is no Jeremy Johnson, he certainly has potential.
Even as bad as Gus is with quarterbacks, he is still the best coach Auburn has had since Pat Dye.

Kind of sucks that he holds several school records, not because he's that good, but because he had 3 full years starting.
I mean, he was serviceable his first couple years, but without the 3rd year he'd be significantly behind what Ryan and Tyler each did in 2.

Has he cracked 280 yet? He was getting up into Jared Lorenzen territory in Fayetteville. Torchies Tacos had to take out a loan just to stay afloat after that behemoth left.
