Goose. You are a child. I’m obviously an LSU but it far from defines my happiness. So you are not really going to troll me as you intend. LSU doesn’t suck. That’s an intellectually dishonest answer. LSU is mediocre. An average team with spots of great talent as evident by nfl rosters. It has an average coach and an average athletic department not willing to do the things that will make programs dominant.

Bamaphan. Thanks for an honest reply. I believe that’s where my buddies are coming from. And I think as one gets older, one realizes that sports are just games. They are for our enjoyment. When we start to lose joy due to sports we have to re-evaluate where we place meaning.

You would think so. But when Bama loses now it doesn't bother me near as much as when they sucked. It doesn't hurt as bad when you know they will still be competing for titles the next year even if they fall short one year.

Is that what the initial reaction is after a loss? That is more what I'm referring to, most logical people would come to the conclusion you mentioned after getting over the loss.

From my perspective, when my team has high expectations the losses hurt more and even close wins can feel meh at times. One reason I'm looking forward to the season is the low expectations at the moment.

Why would they be bored? They'll be anxious in a couple years when Saban starts considering retirement more seriously but boredom isn't an issue.

In a couple of years, that is the year.

Newsflash: Saban will eventually retire.

As an Auburn fan, I hope he continues at a high level for a while. I enjoy it when we beat him.

No I am not. Almost my entire pre-Saban Alabama life was bad teams and probations.

I will never get tired of this.

It’s a serious question

If it is, you have to be mental or you've just never tasted this kind of success maybe? I'll go with the latter.

True, our expectations now are through the roof but that adds to the excitement too. I now look forward to every season and then every single game going through each season. I certainly was not this stoked about Alabama football going back through other coaches after Stalling and before Saban.

No way this is boring. This is why you play the game. To win and get better.

Good point.....let's start with this:...say that you've got the county fair's blue ribbon winning sow or nanny in your pen......hope that helps.

No, not at all. The excitement is different when you're expected to be good, but just because it's different doesn't mean it's not just as fun and exciting.

I remember getting excited when Alabama was ranked in the preseason Top 25 and looking through the USA Today paper for any mention of the Tide. Now it's about how high they can climb. I mean, I hope most Alabama fans are like me and understand that this is an historic run, that likely won't be repeated in our lifetime.

No not really. Random season through this run have been more exciting than others. The 2014 and 2016 seasons were more fun than last year’s in my honest opinion. Even if the formers did not win a national championship. Nothing will top the 2008 and 2009 season’s where 100,000 fans were present for every game no matter the opponent. But personally I love college football so much that I’ll get excited regardless of Bama’s season

We just find different things to get excited about. Like how our backups look in the last three quarters of most games. Incredibly exciting!

Seriously. Has to be a bit boring. It’s a machine that rarely loses and is in contention every, single year. I ask this to the general rant population b/c some of my closest friends are huge Bama fans and as the season nears it’s not as exciting as it used to be for them. It’s an interesting study in human psychology.

Did you not watch the national title game? How could a Bama fan not be excited about that? Bama has played in 3 straight title games and everyone of them was a great exciting game. I can't speak for all Bama fans, but I'm not bored!

Typical for an LSU fan to make this thread. Bama bored of winning? As irrelevant as we are now, we should be hoping and praying we come close to being on Bama's level. This thread fricking sucks and makes the sane LSU fans look bad.

Yes. I mean look at The Strip after the national championship game. It was a ghost town. Be lucky to get that stadium at half capacity.
