This rule finally makes it fair for the athletes

It was ridiculous that the school can cut a player year by year but a player couldn’t leave without penalty

Yep

Anything that gives more power to the players is a good thing. Bonus points if it makes pussies like the OP cry. Notice it’s mostly gumps losing their shite over this

That’s because this will likely cause schools that sign the most talent to lose the most players....

Highly recruited guys will leave when they see they are going to ride the bench

This is the equivalence of College Football Free Agency with prejudice - allowing other athletes to politic and plot and plan strategic moves for multiple players the same way a General Manager in the NFL does it.

Try paying attention Numb-nuts. You are quoting one person then replying to another who has nothing to do with the original post. I know it's difficult- with you being an InbredU alum- but please focus.

Ok ....
I’m trying to be as nice as I can...
But you really are fricking stupid.

It’s very obvious that insecureU is all over this thread.

Like I’ve said many times, there are three really good Bama posters on this board including 3-4 honorable mentions...
Then there are dickheads like you.

Let’s try it this way.

1) the only difference to the rule is that the player can choose to go to any school at any time?
The player still has to sit one year?

2) another new rule is a player can participate in four games in any given year and still redshirt?

If numbers 1&2 are correct, this is much about nothing.
It’s even better for the bamas because Saban can play kids for four games and still redshirt them.

Please tell me if I am misunderstanding these rules.

Thanking you in advance.

Well it isn't like the players get paid what they are worth.

Few companies hire its employees proportional to their labor output. The point is to make money off of them.

However, if someone told me that for the next four years I get a free place to stay, free meals and a top notch degree and all I have to do is exercise and play -- and the cherry on top is that the school will use its connections and prestige to potentially get me a six figure salary even if I sit on the bench in the NFL for a few years...

That's payment enough. People are too shortsighted to understand that the benefit of being a student athlete ends with a damn good diploma in the worst case scenario (barring injury or you not being good enough) and getting a fat paycheck from the NFL being the best.

Consider this...

Player X wants to go to 5 Star U. But 5 Star U is chock full of talent. He doesn't want to ride the bench, so he settles for lowly Cajun State. He plays in 4 games, shows some promise, and reshirts. Cajun State starts planning on this player but suddenly they get a notification to transfer. And Player X is on his way to 5 Star U.

Much ado about nothing?

Please! This message board would be overflowing with posts about SEC offices in Birmingham, REC, fiduciary negligence, ESPN hates Cajuns, goats, and so on.

If you are against corruption and tampering you should be against this. If you are just some poor inbred smuck whose team has been unable to beat Saban and your future prospects are exceedingly dim, maybe you are stupid enough to be in favor of what the Transfer Working Group is driving at.

And if a player sets his classes up correctly and goes to both summer schools he can graduate in 3.5 years and then get an advanced degree in the year and a half left on his scholarship. ( if you do your work on and off the field you will have 5 years to play 4).

If you don't see how many problems "Free Agency" will cause you should probably give me all of your money because I will spend it much more wisely than you - but of course if you don't see how monstrous the problems caused by these rules changes are you don't have any money because you don't have a brain!

Ok....I’m sorry...I must be missing something (other than most bammers are insecureU name callers)
What is the big change in the transfer rule?
Please explain...

so let me get this straight. it's cool for Dan Mullen to go from one conference school to another, and for other coaches to go to one school from another without penalty, but players cant?

It wasn't mutual before. If the coach wanted to process someone (even if they didn't violate rules) the player didn't have a say. All it does is give the player power for one year that the coach has the whole time.

Its not like starters on top teams are going to be leaving. It will be players that ride the bench for top schools leaving and going somewhere they can play.

Players are untrained adolescents with no legitimate marketable skills or education. Coaches are professionals responsible for the entire college football program. Do you really think they are equal?

If they put a sit out caveat

What do you mean “if”? That’s already the rule.

If a player wants to transfer you have to sit out unless they graduate. The only thing that is different is that the player doesn’t have TJ get permission to transfer to a particular school.

This rule change along with the tampering penalty increase is actually a good thing from the NCAA for a change.
