What you should be concerned about is winning the conference. The fact that you are focused on the AP poll while still needing to beat legitimate SEC teams is telling.
Georgia will probably beat you. And A&M will be hard to beat. As will OU. The likelihood that you win the conference is what you should focus on.
That said, Texas is a legitimate contender. No doubt.

Lol. This misunderstanding of the impact of NIL is ongoing and frankly hilarious. Teams like UGA and Bama benefit more from NIL than any other team. We shed our recruiting "misses" to make room for more recruits and get top performers from other teams who trade up to fill holes we have on our rosters. The fact people think that NIL hurts the top teams is just wrong. It's funny that people actually think this. Who are the top 10 teams in talent? The same top 10 from before NIL and the transfer portal? You're still looking at Bama, OSU and UGA followed by Clemson and Texas. And that's with Clemson not even really getting any incoming transfers. The idea that these things are adding parity is just mistaken thinking. They're not. They're making the top teams stronger.
Exactly ! I never understood why all these people keep saying that.

Y’all have shown the most so far of anyone.
It’s not a stretch moving y’all to first with one caveat. How is Ewers? Yes, Arch looked spectacular yesterday but you’d have to think Ewers is better still this year.

Yes A&M in 2019. Rankings at the time of game:
#1 Clemson (lost NC game)
#1 Alabama
#8 Auburn
@ #4 Georgia
@ #2 LSU (won NC)
When did Clemson join SEC?
So 4 SEC teams. OU plays 6 ranked SEC teams. Show me that, any SEC team having played 6 ranked SEC teams. It may have happened but I don’t recall it.

My God whatever. The schedule was insane just like yours is. And I'm certain that isn't the toughest one that's ever been either. Welcome to the conference.

It’s not really different than being ranked #2. There was already a huge target on our back with it being our first year in the SEC and being ranked 2.
Anyone watching Georgia this year can see they have offensive issues. Can Kirby use this to motivate his team, sure. Should that matter? No. If you’re worried about playing a team at their best, you’re not a championship caliber team.
If Texas was going to let their head get big, it would’ve happened this week. Coming off the Ann Arbor win we would’ve seen something similar to Wyoming last year. Texas didn’t come out flat, there was no hangover. This is simply slight bump in the rankings, nothing more. Quite honestly anyone watching either team the first three weeks can see that Texas looks like the better team.

I hate to say it, but it looks more and more like a UT-Texas SECCG.
Heads would explode.
Heads would explode.

To quote the great nick Saban, this is rat poison
Well , to be the sitting duck in the # 1 position is not the full can of
rat poison but a sprinkling , with all the attention and showering of
having arrived and having to defend the top of the hill. It can have
an effect ----- If you're ranked close enough , there is a reason why
a Saban or a Smart had honestly rather not be in first place.,
especially this early in the season ---- and especially (even though Texas
has the easiest schedule in the SEC as it turns out) , Texas still
plays Georgia and if they make it , the other best team in the SEC
championship. Goes without saying , to hold on to that #1 spot and win the
National Championship is a long , long road. Do it , you deserve it.

It's gonna suck this year, but I'm glad it happened. Weren't going to see another NC by winning the B12.

I guess it’s an eye of the beholder thing. Most folks would say never having a 2 TD lead in a game you were heavily favored in would be considered too close.
