To be 100% honest, the only thing I call BBQ is just stuff I grill with BBQ sauce on it. Then it's like grilled BBQ chicken etc.
I call pulled pork, ribs, brisket and beef ribs by those names.

These days, a lot of places have a big oven to cook their meats. I prefer the old days of an outdoor pit place with some fella named Leroy or Vernon gets up at 2am to start cooking for the say ahead.

I think what you're trying to say is anyone who refers to BBQ as something cooked on a gas grill is disqualified.
