interesting. either Clemson or LSU will pick up their 4th tomorrow nite, putting them high on the list. The Golden Gophers have 4 - can you believe that?

you expect us to click on a slide show? Screw that noise. I know The University of Alabama Crimson Tide is #1 in the poll era so not interested in the rest of it anyway.

Four titles is elite. People take for granted just how hard it is to win one. You have to be really, really good and you have to have a little luck. Luck to not have key injuries and sometimes you even need a luck bounce of the ball along the way.

no offense intended, but though 4 titles is pretty darn good, it isn't elite when at least 8 programs have more than that.

So you don't think top 10 all time is elite?

Yes 4 is very much elite especially when you consider the time frame Clemson and LSU have done it, within the last 2 decades. No titles can be disputed (no need to discuss 03 this board has discussed this topic many times).

No offense but Alabama has a few titles they claim that can be highly disputed and that goes for many other programs as well.i don’t put near the weight on titles before the 70’s as if you had a good season and a few newspapers on your side you could claim a natty.

No. If Alabama has 12, Notre Dame has 10 or however many, then the 9th or 10th team with 4 isn't elite by any stretch.

I said there are at least 8 that have more. I'm pretty sure there are more though I'm not inclined right now to research it. Those I think have more in the poll era, off the top of my head

Alabama
Notre Dame
USC
Oklahoma
Ohio State
Nebraska
Miami
Texas
Minnesota

4 is definitely elite. No question about it and I hope LSU adds number 5 tomorrow night.

LSU doesn't have 4 in the poll era. They won one in the 50s, Saban won one, and Les Miles won one.

Yes but none of the disputed titles are any of the twelve in the poll era not to mention at least twice, 77 in particular, they should have won it.

that article was about poll era titles, and though I didn't do the slide show, I know Alabama has 12 since 1936

12 not counting 1941

Poll era implies AP and/or UPI/coaches polls

Alabama, 12

That's bullshite. They really only have about 8 or 9 legitimate titles.

They claim about 53, but that's bullshite too.

Nope, they have 12 AP/UPI/BCS/playoff titles and should have 2 more in 66 and 77 and that's far more than anyone.

Everyone single one of Bama's 12 national championships during the poll era are either AP, Coaches, BCS or CFP.

All other teams claim their poll championships. So does Bama.

And no they don't.

That YardBarker slide show also includes FWAA in the poll era. That is why Arkansas & Ole Miss are included. They have never won the AP/Coaches/BCS/CFP titles.

It’s an inaccurate list. 1952 - Georgia Tech National Champs.

Michigan State didn’t even play a bowl game that year and Tech won the Sugar Bowl and was undefeated.
