It’s an inaccurate list. 1952 - Georgia Tech National Champs.
Michigan State didn’t even play a bowl game that year and Tech won the Sugar Bowl and was undefeated.

by one source or another Alabama has like 22, but we're talking poll era and it's only 12 legitimate titles. LSU has 3.

List is inaccurate.
Ohio State has 6.
Oklahoma has 7.
Ohio State has 6.
Oklahoma has 7.

Bro, nobody gives a frick about national titles that bama, or anyone else won way back when. Who gives a shite about that? Princeton and yale won alot too way back. Does that mean anything? Youre a typical bama Homer. Trust me, nobody cares.

If we wanted to count bullshite like bama does, we would have 4 but we have more integrity and class than that. Bama is so full of shite. Hope u have fun pulling against LSU tomorrow as we kick their arse. I know u are.

a couple of posters mentioned "elite"
The elite programs
Alabama
Oklahoma
USC
Notre Dame
Ohio State
I guess Nebraska is hanging on by a thread
I think Michigan has won more than any program but few national titles in the poll era

Michigan isn’t elite anymore, neither is Nebraska. Michigan stacked up a bunch of titles pre war/ww2. That hardly counts for shite. They have like 1 title since the 40s ended. A total joke

Cool slideshow. Thats not what I am referring to when my comment wasnt directed at you

Michigan State also played only 9 games and no bowl. Tech 12-0 with a Sugar Bowl win (when there were only 8 bowls).
So maybe it’s high time we go back and look at all of these titles when the northeast/Midwest media was exerting it’s bias.

it's not a slide show, and secondly, the list is from an unbiased website and reflect only AP, UPI/coaches, and the BCS and playoff titles. Alabama has 12 and LSU has 3.

1. Yale 18
2. Alabama 16
3. Princeton 15

that's just the way it went. Alabama had a few teams that might have been national champions were it not so. The 1966 team, in particular, was undefeated and few teams even scored on them. Notre Dame and Michigan State tied a game like 3-3 and were co national champions. Another title to Alabama would have been an unprecedented 3 in a row, and in the civil rights era South, that was not going to happen as long as the northern and midwest media pretty much controlled the polls.

If we can go back and decide currently that Thomas Jefferson was a slave-owning shitlord, we can certainly go back and reevaluate football national titles and see things like 1952 12-0 GT > 8-0 MSU (and same for other years).

Alabama was the only southern team that really got coverage, they were the South team in the Yankee Medias eyes

If a program hasn’t won a title this century it is no longer “elite”...any titles prior to desegregation should have an asterisk. Just saying.

You should maybe do the research part... I know off the top of my head, Texas in fact, only has 4.
So is Texas elite with 4 or not?
