IF LSU shuts down that pass attack, how good is this year’s run game for bama? I know y’all got like 3 backs y’all use but are they like Derrick Henry where they can pound it?

The backs are there, but I don't think this year's OL is the same as years past where Bama could line up and run it when everyone knew it was coming

It hasn't looked as good this year. But, it's also hard to tell because I don't think we've really committed to using it yet. We used to lean on teams until they broke and the running game got lose. Just haven't seen that this year. They've been good. But, they've also been stoned on 3rd or 4th and short a few times. The O-line SHOULD be able to get yards on anyone, but, like I said, I don't think we've really tested it out much to see.

I think our DBs will hold their own. The thing that worries me is the path rush. Aranda has had to create a pash rush from the safety and MLB position since we get minimal rush from our DL and OLBs. This is the game we will really miss Chiasson. I expect to see a similar style of defensive attack that Aranda used in the 2016 game. Bring pressure off the edge using the nickel and safeties.

I also think Alabama will take full advantage of Devin White being out for the half and come right at us like Florida did.

I just cannot imagine an Alabama team that can’t run the ball well if they need to

LSU secondary vs Alabama passing game is an excellent match up. What is a total mismatch is Bama's defensive front seven vs LSU oline. Things will get ugly for Burrow in this one.

If the defense is playing pass, they'll run more. But, the strength of this Bama team is the passing attack. They'll use it one way or another.

LSU pass defense has been fantastic this year. It's our run defense that's suspect. Georgia was running all over us at first, but got away from it way too early. Florida had a lot of big runs that cost us the game.

This is an interesting match up. LSU's strength is pass defense.

but LSU's push to the backfield really hurt against Florida. Franks may turn into a tremendous QB,but his OL dominated LSU's pass rush 8 out of 10 times giving him ample time.

What? We lost that game because our Oline got handled, our receivers dropped balls, our QB fumbled going into score, and our DL got worn down.

We didn't lose the game because of pass rush when Franks went 12-27 for 161yds.

We have the talent to cover the Bama WRs; however, our pass rush has struggled this year. If we can't get consistent pass rush I think Tua will be very successful. In the UGA game Frohm stated that Aranda gave him defensive looks he had not seen from LSU previously so if Aranda can disguise coverages this may provide an equalizer.

Bottom line is Tua will have success. How much he has is the big question.

They've got the big, strong backs to get the job done, but I'm honestly not sold on the run blocking of our Oline. They've been inconsistent blocking for the run all year.

You realize this is because Aranda adjusted and started bringing a safety down and putting White and Divinity on the line?
He made a similar adjustment after MSU drove for the field goal last Saturday

That’s the best matchup for Bama but the LSU oline hasn’t been as bad as you may think just looking at the sack numbers. There’s been a lot of injuries and they’ve run out a bunch of different combinations but it looks like we’ll (fingers crosssed) have Brumfield back for this game + the guys we didn’t expect to have to lean on have improved as the season has gone on.

Still advantage Bama for sure

Bama will have to account for Delpit. That's something they haven't had to do this whole season up to this point. Greedy and Fulton will hold their own against the WR's. IMO, they will win more battles than lose against the Bama WR's.

The question will be can Tua place the ball in the small window he will have. Will he be ansy?

It's pretty hard to blanket WRs with today's offenses and the rules that exist - that goes for Bama covering LSU too. One downside of a spread/RPO offense is it does invite a defensive player into the backfield a lot.

Bamas WRs were running wide open last year and Coach O talked about in the pc last year. Aranda is really good so we will see if Tua can get the ball to them - and I bet he will have to do it quickly.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Tua throw a pick and have an easy long TD.

Great idea. Give Tua 5 or 6 seconds to survey the field. LSU will need 11 or 12 DBs instead of 8.

Assuming we can eliminate a lot of mental mistakes, you may be correct. That’s a big assumption though. I’m hoping our defense comes to play mentally and not just emotionally.

I rewatched the 2017 Bama/LSU game.

There were holes in the LSU secondary that Jalen just couldn't take advantage of, especially on the read option pass plays that have been so successful for Tua and Bama this year.

I think LSU will blitz like crazy because they will have to. They are currently tied for 44th in the country in sacks (18). As good as their secondary is, they wont stand a chance in coverage if Tua has all day to throw. Collapsing the pocket and pressure on the QB is always key to help your secondary

Communication on the Bama line will be key as I expect a few new wrinkles to be added by Aranda to the LSU blitz packages along with the noise from the crowd, which is always a cause for concern.

So you're going to give Tua all day to throw?

That's a bold strategy there Cotton.

tua is gonna eat that up. He's as good as anybody in the country recognizing and knowing where the pressure is coming from, and who's going to be open. Safety and corner blitzes are going to get you beat if that's the plan
