Any LSU or Florida fans on this board were at the ‘97 game?

Florida was ranked #1 in the country and was blowing out every team they played. I remember watching it at home and being in disbelief as the clock ticked down to 0 and LSU was victorious. Pretty sure that’s the last time the goal posts came down in Tiger Stadium.

I was there. A little revenge for all the hell Spurrier put us through. Then we lose to deuce and a mediocre ole miss the next week.

Yes I was. I went to college out of state and brought one of my friends back home for the weekend from Virginia. It was great. He was actually a Tennessee fan and thought it was a great atmosphere.

I was 7 years old and still remember that post-game celebration.

Screaming Corso Sucks while on my dad's shoulders at the game day set (while trashy AF) is a memory I will never forget!

I believe that is the game where Gameday was forced to erect a net around the set because someone cracked Corso in the head with a golf ball

Yo! I brought two of my friends from USL for their first LSU game. One of them told me her dad said before she left, “Now, honey, at LSU, they actually watch the game.”

I was there, son. I tell this story every time this game comes up. We were in the student section and were in early. Most of the stadium was still empty. Two Gator fans came right next to the student section with this GIGANTIC "Work 'Em Silly Gators" sign. I can't imagine how long it took them to make it. It was gorgeous. It looked like 2 or 3 King sized sheets sewn together or something. An LSU student ran over and snatched it and they chased him around the stands for a bit then he ran into the student section and the other students blocked them in so the Gator fans couldn't get to him. Next thing you know you the sign is being shredded and tossed into the air like dozens of Tigers tearing it up. The Gator fans went to the State Troopers and they just laughed and told the kids to go away. The entire student section started yelling Tiger Bait at them. It's one the best things I've ever seen in Tiger Stadium.

All I remember was LSU coaches (Carl Reese) went on the speaking circuit that year with the blueprint to beat Spurrier
I think Spurrier destroyed LSU the next couple of years and at some point Tepper replaced Reese which hastened the Saban era
Even Saban had the brook trout look before Spurrier went to NFL

That's a nice background on the sign. I would have liked it even if the '97 story wasn't in there. I was tripping my balls off at that game, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a plain sign like that. I belive they had it done in blue and orange and even had a Gator head on it. Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

I don't know if it is that guy, but WES Gator is on some message boards and you can ask him if you ever run into him. He has something to do with it I believe. Pretty cool little tradition.

I was at the game and remember the Gator sign ripped to shreds. I remember the gator fans making their way from the South Endzone to the student section in the North endzone about 1.5 hours prior to kickoff. The stadium was empty at that time except the student section!!! I was in the student section underneath the old north endzone scoreboard.

The atmosphere was electric. We didnt sit the entire game. And we broke Floridas huge SEC winning streak. It was 25 or 26 games. I know Georgia beat them two weeks later too.

And this was the first time the goalposts came down!! They came down again later for maybe 2 more games. But all that was about 20 years ago.

I was there. Sat in the North Endzone close to the student section. Did not help take the goal posts down but did rush the field. No one outside of LSU gave them a snowballs chance to win.

Wasn't there but remember it well.

Herb Tyler was your QB and Faulk was the RB.

Doug Johnson was our new starter and couldn't get the W.
SMH

I believe that was LSU only win I the 90s.
