Basketball is for when you're so desperate for football you'll watch anything that has people in jerseys playing a sport, just to get your fix.

This close to fall, I won't have it

I'm extremely excited about upcoming season. Fresh start with new coaching staff, uptempo style of play.
Talent level is there but with transition we shall see.

I think Auburn will have more of a rebuild year than some people are expecting. Just lost too much leadership, and the conference will be good as it has been the last few years.

I see Auburn as 8-11 or so seed in the NCAA tournament. A lot hinges on if Wiley can finally live up to that 5* talent though. If Wiley and Purifoy have mediocre seasons then AU is an NIT team

Run along and start a uniform thread then?

VOLS frontcourt is abysmal. Barnes has signed 1 good player in the last 3 years. I think they win 17 or so games. Heat will be turned up big time if they are as bad as they should be.

Excited about the class we brought in, won’t compete for anything but still excited to watch them play.

Seems to me that Barnes will have a good team. He has plenty of talent returning. Hell, I've seen speculations that he has four draft picks returning, maybe five.

It will be interesting how good y’all are. I for one doubt y’all will be able to replicate your tournament form, especially lacking those pieces, but y’all could be a pretty good team.

I think Pearl turned a corner as a coach last year. He is going to be better at maximizing the talent he has on the roster no matter what from here on out. So when we have consistent, ridiculously good talent starting in 2020, watch out.

As for this season, we do bring back several seniors who played big roles on a final 4 team. But for the most part, they were role players. It's great to have them back and guys like Purifoy or Wiley could maybe take a step up.. but if we are going to be great next year we need a newcomer or two to bear some of the go-to scoring burden. Okoro is certainly a candidate for that.

It will be interesting to see how the new coaches do in their first year.

Alabama - Nate Oats
Arkansas - Eric Musselman
Texas A&M - Buzz Williams
Vanderbilt - Jerry Stackhouse

For reference here are the head coaches by seniority:
Kentucky - John Calipari - 2009
Carolina - Frank Martin - 2012
Auburn - Bruce Pearl - 2014
Florida - Mike White - 2015
Miss State - Ben Howland - 2015
Tennessee - Rick Barnes - 2015
LSU - Will Wade - 2017
Missouri - Cuonzo Martin - 2017
Georgia - Tom Crean - 2018
Ole Miss - Kermit Davis - 2018

I think Oats is in the best position from the start and Stackhouse has the biggest challenge in year 1.

The SEC is really stepping up when it comes to men's basketball.

Stackhouse may have the toughest row to hoe not just because of talent ... but he'll have a hard time qualifying the players he wants at Vandy.

Vandy doesn't play the same games (academically) as UNC and Duke for example.

really?
I know they just had Darius Garland who was a one and done

I didn’t think that was actually a thing anymore in basketball especially if they’re one and done.

I really like our team this year. Only question is interior defense and rebounding, that will determine how good we are

I think UGA is being overvalued. If Claxton would have came back then yeah I think they would have been pretty good but I know from the Colin Sexton year that 1 superstar on a team doesn’t work out great.
