Juwaun Briscoe, sophomore DB, was arrested for driving without his license and not wearing a seatbelt. Yes, arrested....spent over an hour in jail for this.

Mini-Saban needs to get a handle on the UGA campus cops. That's part of "The Process".

Driving without a license is kind of serious after your first time getting caught

They'll take that shite for a long time after that 'second one

You act like not having a license is something you shouldnt be arrested for. Why?

Obviously a danger to society. At least the public was safe for an hour.

Did he forget his license or does he not have a license?

This is ridiculous to arrest someone over this, especially if it was a case of just forgetting his wallet at his dorm.

Jail? Really? Seems a bit harsh.

It's unclear if he never had a license or if he simply forgot it. He was arrested by UGA police on misdemeanor TRAFFIC violations while on campus at 9pm.

If you get caught here driving with a suspended license, you get overnight in jail and 6 months added to the suspension.

I had my license suspended in Virginia because I got a speeding ticket in Wise and totally forgot about it. I get pulled over and the cop informs me of the suspension.

So I ask him what should I do, because I didn't know anyone in the area who could come pick me up, he says "well I'm going to leave, and I'm sure you have a way to get home that I don't know anything about, you get what I'm saying?".

Waited for him to leave, then drove home and paid the fine. Suspension over, crisis averted.

I guess I was lucky to get one of the few cool cops in Virginia Beach.

I got pulled over for a seat belt violation in Gwinnett County several years ago. I had also left my ID at home and the police officer told me that he has to arrest me if I can't find another form of identification. Luckily I had an old student ID still in my car. So yes, you can have a valid drivers license but still get arrested for driving without having it with you. (Not that is what he probably did).

Yea, this is the kinda bullshite that we've been putting up with from the Athens and UGA police. Forgot your license and not wearing a seatbelt? Will usually get you a ticket. In Athens? The pokey.

Luckily he won't be suspended for this but it's just so mind bogglingly stupid that they thought he deserved jail time.
