Cincy is a respectable G5 school.

Cincy has more CFB playoff appearances than Arky and most of the SEC.

The Big 12 commish overreacted when Texas/OU left - they should have stayed calm because they wound up with some decent PAC teams.

Now this I agree with...

I doubt the FL admin wants FSU in the SEC as they would rather them be in the ACC for recruiting purposes though NIL changes that argument a little bit.

The only way they could make it seem like a "big" game is by playing it on Missouri dirt. A shame really.

No question when the Big 8 expanded to 12 it was among the best conferences. Top heavy but the smaller teams had their moments.

I’m kinda worried Mizzou will go back to the B12… That would be a dark day for..

Your right, Texas is its own thing and beats USC and Bama enough but lets say a permanent dominant Texas that never stops winning natties , 3 or 4 every decade, and super high ranked recruiting classes

Then, after joining the Big 12, Cinci announced last December they are moving their home game 9 hours away to Kansas City a short drive to Omaha so they can fill Arrowhead with Nebraska fans.

We in Missouri appreciate taking Big 12 money into our SEC state. For those geographically challenged in the south...Arrowhead is the home of the Kansas City Missouri Chiefs ....in the state of Missouri...

FWIW this was said last year about it:

https://www.si.com/college/fsu/florida-state-seminoles-college-football/uf-ad-scott-stricklin-has-surprising-comments-about-fsu-possibly-joining-sec-24

quote:

One of the topics asked to Florida's athletic director Scott Stricklin on Wednesday was his stance on Florida State possibly joining the SEC if they can get out of their agreement with the ACC. He gave a somewhat surprising answer.

quote:

"We have a good relationship with our friends in Tallahassee," Stricklin started, via Action Network's Brett McMurphy. "No school has a veto in this league. If you get ¾ of the league to support expansion, we're going to expand. Anybody who made our league better, we'd be supportive of joining the SEC... Whenever we've expanded in the past, the leadership of the league was able to lay out this is why it makes sense to bring in Arkansas & South Carolina; A&M & Missouri, why Texas & OU make sense. We all saw financial projections, competitive rationale, and ¾ of the league said 'Let's do this.' If there were ever opportunities out there - and again no one has had any conversations - that is the scenario where somebody walks in and says 'Here's a school, here's what they bring to the table, here's how it makes us all better.' We would be supportive of that"

Kind of a political sounding answer but I doubt the SEC has FSU as a priority. NC and a VA school I think would be the top choices if they expand. Not sure if we aren't better off staying at 16 since the money would have to spread out also.

I have no idea how the big 12 just decided they were still a power conference after losing OU and Texas. Nobody questioned it.

And apparently they've got Okie Lite beat as well.

Still, give Arkansas and most of the SEC Ciny's yearly schedules and we would have been in the playoffs as well. Give Okie Lite Cincy's schedule and... well... wait. Y'all play a slightly softer schedule.

Agree. There was a time UF championed FSU joining the league. Think that has passed, and now with the even greater competitive advantage of being in the SEC I would assume the admin is no longer in favor. They may not object if that is the direction it goes, but I don't think they'd be pushing for it.

I don't get the criticism. Financially, this was an easy decision for Cincy and in the world of revenue sharing, financial decisions gotta come first.

Yep. Colorado, Kansas State, and A&M were all doing very well in football at the time. Nebraska was going for a 3-peat natty in year 1 of the Big XII. Texas and Oklahoma were just a couple of years away from the dawn of the Mack Brown/Bob Stoops era. It’s was a pretty good league until 2011-12.

I have enjoyed Nebraska's demise. They looked terrible against Cincinnati and should not have won that game.

OKST beat Arky last year for one of our three wins.

UGA did okay.

Because they had an easy path to the playoffs. That's kind of the entire point of this thread.

Also, Arkansas beat them in their very next game after their playoff appearance.
