How do you stay eligible as a freshman not attending classes?

All schools allow hardships attendance variance, the kid is going through tough times, maybe he plays for Bama maybe not

That’s terribly sad. With such news, why did Nick throw him under the bus? Why not say “Antonio is dealing with a family illness...”?

Read the whole story. Saban's been very 'gentle' throughout the whole thing. This is the first time he's said anything negative and even then he went through the things they'd try to get him take (tutors, counseling, etc) and said "all those things are still available" but apparently the kid won't even answer the phone. Even stranger, he isn't coming to practice, isn't in the portal, and apparently isn't going to class either but over on the Bama board a poster says he's been going around campus like the world is normal. It sounds like, to use an old mechanic's phrase, his motor's jumped time.

Taking it public is probably another attempt to reach him. Hope it works out for him no matter what happens with football.

Well, I admit it wasn't a particularly strong-assed offer but not everyone can make those and get away with it.

Still think there is a decent chance he stays. Apparently he’s been going through a tough family situation and his family actually prefers he stay at Alabama. Hope he doesn’t leave, but we’ll be just fine regardless.

Looks like Saban is in decline to keep up with the everyday activities. Looks like pretty soon he is going to step down from being a head coach at Alabama. I am clearly seeing it right now.

Tough spot to be in. I had to face that situation in the military, ultimately chose to be with family.

Where's the thread where we track which LSU and Auburn fans are celebrating the illness of a player's grandmother?

Asking for a friend.

From the Bama board.

quote:

Alfano is so upset about his grandmother, that he quit going to practice and class, but instead of being with his grandmother, he's still in Tuscaloosa hanging out at frat houses.

quote:

This is the mindset of someone being too stubborn to adapt.

If we do this then we will see top talent leave every year.

It isn't about character. All of these kids want to be coddled. Saban has to find a balance between carrot and stick. It can't just be stick anymore.

quote:

Family issues and transfer portals go together like Coke and Goldern Flake these days. The family situation may be serious enough but it sounds like a whole lot of gears are turning on this one.

quote:

Yeah, he's home sick alright. Home sick for being recruited.

A lot of these kids don't want to play football. They just want attention.

It's time to start hammering other schools for tampering with Alabama's players. No way this kid, or Anoma had no contact with other schools after signing.

Totally looks to me like the Kid is using grandmothers illness to not practice, or go to class. Not answering the phone from coaches. Really?? Your so distraught you can't answer the phone. Bullsi*%T

Anyway, None of us really know what's going on .

Careful, man. Only Bama fans can make assumptions and trash Bama players.

Not sure how to explain this to you, but at Alabama... star ratings are used in recruiting only.

Once on campus and on the practice field, a player's star rating is reset to zero and they start earning new stars.

Just sayin'.
