...with the last play?
-Either way, you have 2 shots max.
-Georgia had plenty if time to set up for the fade, and did.
-It was a good play by Bama
They would've run that same play before or after clocking it, and had a chance at catching the Tide off-balance if they hurried.
It was just a good defensive play and an instinctive reaction by the WR. Turned out bad for the Bulldogs. That's all.
Either way, its not on Richt or Murray, imo. It's just football...

That's how I thought while watching it at the bar. I didn't have commentators to direct me to think a certain way though.
Ball's not tipped it's either incomplete or a TD.
Was tipped, and WR's gonna WR.

Too rushed for me. I like the spike to get a good play in and everyone lined up in time to make any audibles

Well technically they also save time by bout spiking it, but the one second may not have been significant

I think they would have had time to run 3 plays if Murray didn't sit in the pocket with the ball. Sucks for Georgia the offense shite the bed with 3:15+ left in the game when they had two timeouts

It got tipped. A WR is going to reach up and grab it. And to be honest, if he doesn't slip on the turf he's headed out of bounds or for the end zone.
He flat out lost his footing. Hate it for him and Dawg fans.

Exactly what I was thinking. WR should've batted the ball down but I don't fault him for catching it. It's instinct.

This.

Agree completely. Can't expect the receiver to know what we can see by benefit of wide screen tv. Ball in the air, catch it try to do something. Just a good play by CJ and a fortunate outcome for Bama.

You aren't but I didn't like the call. A fade has very little chance of success. Takes are darn near perfect pass. I would have spiked the ball and at least had a TE and/or a RB up the middle in the endzone so you could drill a straight pass into the receivers gut. Much higher chance of success.

I kind of agree.
If the ball hadn't been tipped then it likely would've been incomplete with 5 or so seconds left or a TD.
The only thing about spiking the ball is that then we could have set up a play a little better and not been rushed. Hindsight is 50/50 and our guys played their asses off tonight. Just sucks to come up 5 yards short.

Yeah, I was thinking spike, too, but I understand why it may not have happened, and can nod my head and say "yeah, ok".
But reading some threads, you'd think it was the worst clock management ever. I don't think so.
If I was in charge, I call for the spike. But I don't think Richt is a damn fool for not doing it, either. shite happens...

I would have preferred to see the ball spiked so you could script out 2 plays and get everybody set.
Georgia had moved the ball quickly with big plays to the TE. I would have liked to see them try that again. I don't know if the rush to set and snap the play caused Murray to default to that outside back shoulder throw.

Could be. Like I said, it wouldn't have been my choice, and it wasn't the right call in hindsight. But it wasn't the "worst" like I'm occasionally seeing around here tonight.
No biggie to me, it was a fun game to watch.

No. Murray should have known not to throw the ball in the field of play. Richt should have clocked it and set up on the next play. They got greedy thinking they could catch Bama unorganized on Defense.

I thought about this too. No way though. Can you imagine the goat the WR would be if he batted it down and then UGA screwed up the next play. He would have committed suicide later in life thinking about that play.

I think the "rushed" is more a disadvantage for the defense than the offense. I was hoping they would clock it.
