Agreed. This was not a critical clock management issue. Bama tipped the ball.

I think a better question to ask is how they decided what play to call for the last play. Was it called from the sideline or left up to Murray based on what he saw.

I just saw a replay and the TE 88's route on the last play did not even get him in the endzone. I couldnt' see what the WR's were doing on the far left side of the play.

Why wouldn't all routes get in the endzone?

Would it have been any different and they ran the same play and the same thing happened? I imagine they would have spiked it unless they were going to run that play anyway.

FTR I can't think of an argument where Murray is in the wrong. He was throwing at the back pylon and had some bad luck.

Agreed. Bad luck for Murray and Richt.

My only issue is why all of the eligible receivers are not ending up in the endzone by design.

TE 88 stopped his route and turned at the 2 instead of slanting one way or the other toward a pylon to take him into the endzone.

Pretty sure called from the sideline, Murray looked like he was motioning to spike it

I think they would have had time to run 3 plays if Murray didn't sit in the pocket with the ball. Sucks for Georgia the offense shite the bed with 3:15+ left in the game when they had two timeouts
I would have bet the house they'd spike it. Would have had 13-14 seconds left.

Seems to me they picked the lowest % option.

Well technically they also save time by bout spiking it, but the one second may not have been significant

It has nothing to do with saving time and everything to do with getting the right package in with the right play call.

Lol at anyone who thinks that wasn't an absolutely terrible, indefensible move by dumbass Richt and his choking-moronic QB Murray. There's 15 seconds left. You can spike it immediately and easily run 3 plays. People think that 5 seconds a play is a little close, but wakeup you dumbasses. You really have time for two 7 second plays. All you have to have is 1 second left to be able to run the final play. When was the last time you saw two plays last longer than 7 seconds back-to-back?

Anyone faulting the WR for catching the ball or anything like that is assbackwards idiotic. There is simply no way you can defend not spiking that ball immediately in that situation. The fact that some of you idiots agreed with that call is hysterical.

Completely disagree. They got one low % play off.

If they spike it they get at least two plays. 2 plays > 1 play.

They got greedy thinking they could catch Bama unorganized on Defense.

You must not realize that this has been how teams have had the most success against BAMA this year.

Anyone calling Richt a "dumbass" for not spiking it is just stupid. The tipped pass and results of the play had absolutely nothing to do with whether he had spiked the ball.

Maybe you don't like the play, but blaming a coach because a ball was tipped by a defender and then caught by a receiver who slipped down - that's really ignorant.

Even if they spike it, if they play turns out the same then they still only run one play. My point was they needed to spike it and get a better play call.

And to be honest, if he doesn't slip on the turf he's headed out of bounds or for the end zone

Uhhhh...no. Three defenders there. He was gonna be tackled right there.
