The hate isn’t for Hoover and the stadium. It’s about hatred for Bama. Yes, they won’t admit but there are idiots who’s minds at so distorted and eaten up with Bama hate that this is a sounding board for that.

The tourney is fine in Hoover. These other parks aren’t any better and doing ANYTHING in a place like Memphis is dangerous at best.

Any city is dangerous at night and has good areas and bad.

Memphis around Autozone park night or day is safe. RV parking would be by the River in Tommy Lee Park. You’re telling me they can have the largest bbq festival and Memphis in May Music festival every year but couldn’t hand a 100 Rv’s?

171,300 is a new career high for this tournament. It isnt going anywhere else.

And someone mentioned all places have crime at night. The Hoover Met and where it is located has virtually no crime. But it depends on where you chose to stay I guess.

I'm watching the end of the Big 12 tournament being held at Globe Life Park.

Hoover is small-time thinking. Take a look at ESPN2 if you want to see how it should be done.

splain yourself. Cuz a big fancy stadium is not all that the SEC is looking for right. Very few games are sell outs.

There would be better attendance at different venues. Alabama and Auburn are two of the least interested fanbases and always have been.

It's a tired conversation, and glaringly obvious to everybody the past 15 years. The SEC tournament looks podunk, when it could be a premiere event and draw in people from both ends of the league if it were rotated to a handful of nice venues.

There's a reason this conversation is had every year. It's an obvious missed opportunity by the SEC.

yes Sanky and the SEC officials keep playing at the Met. You think they are stupid? My guess is their bosses, the AD's of member schools, are very happy where it is. And those that go on a regular basis seem to be happy as well. The new record speaks for itself and that is with OM and MSU not there. They bring a ton of fans.

Where would you move it somewhat centrally located? Nashville? Would be fine

Atlanta? Hell no

Chattanooga? No SEC anything there

Somewhere in Mississippi? Lol

It ain’t moving west of Mississippi come on

I’m not arguing Hoover is amazing but it’s solid.

Hoover is also a very reasonable drive for many schools. That’s the point of centrally located.

I read where some folks wanted to move the CWS from Omaha.

If it’s not broke don’t fix it.

Unless Pensacola does a major upgrade to their minor league ballpark or Destin or Gulf Shores/Orange Beach build a 10,000+ seat baseball stadium it just doesn't make much sense to move it.

In other words, unless it's going to be moved to a centrally located beach vacation destination there's no point in moving it.

It’s been approved by the state and the city, but is likely a 4-5 year project, at least. The main goal is to alleviate traffic on the other side of the interstate from the stadium. Stadium could see some benefit from it, but it’d mainly be residual benefit around the 459 interchange

Yep exit 9. It's definitely happening and it has nothing to do with the met or sec tourney. But as you mentioned it could help some

The second highest attendance ever was the game bama played the other day.

The players have everything they need in Hoover and more.

The fans have everything they need in Hoover and more.

The "fan experience" won't be better anywhere else. The parents can watch the game and the kids can play safely.

What rational do you have for moving it.......change just for the sake of change?

BTW: Oklahoma City has both -- hotels within walking distance, and surface parking which could accommodate RV parking.

OU already has the softball and gymnastics sites and both sports’ balls in a vicegrip. They don’t need another

Think that through. What is lodging like in Destin/Orange Beach/Pensacola Beach over Memorial Day weekend? Is it easy to find on short notice? No. Is it affordable? No. How many people do you think would be willing to spend $1200-2000 on lodging to attend the SEC tournament?

And would they even attend the games if they did go? Or would they go to the beach?

They could potentially add a road out the back of the the Met complex to links up to the new exit, but I don’t think that is in the plans right now.

I don't particularly want it to go to OKC. I'm just pointing out the qualities that we should be looking for, and where Hoover is woefully deficient.

I get it. Bama, Auburn, State, Ole Miss, and LSU love Hoover because it is a reasonable drive for them. It's not so great for those on the edges of the conference.

Birmingham is also less than a 4 hour drive for Georgia, Tennessee, and Vandy. There are few places that have the facilities to handle the tournament and are less than a 4 hour drive for half or more of the conference members. Huntsville? Nashville? Atlanta? The facilities that are in those cities are minor league or major league parks. Good luck coordinating that during the middle of those teams’ season. This weekend the Braves, the Trash Pandas, and Sounds all had home stands. So none of those cities would have been an option this year.

One of the suggestions has been to move it to the border of the southwest and the midwest. The facilities there in Oklahoma City are nice. But then travel would be inconvenient for everyone except Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma; the old southwest conference members. You think drives are bad now? It would be over a 10 hour drive for over half the members. Attendance would absolutely suck. The idea of moving it to Oklahoma City just makes zero sense.

OKC is the ugliest metro in the US. If Amarillo was a metro, OKC would be 2nd.
