It's a historical analysis. Here is news that might upset your doggie senses. Georgia is at or near the top of college football at this moment in time. However, it will not last forever.

It's a good argument to have, but Bama also has played more post season ranked teams than everyone. A re-ranking of only regular season ranked teams on everyone's schedule would reveal a different story. They played 3 post season games against ranked teams just last season which is basically the difference that puts them at the most ranked teams played. They just passed Notre Dame last season.

So you want a watered down regular season ranking, not the tougher post season ranking.

I think both can be useful depending on the topic. All games vs ranked opponents played is obviously highly interesting when it comes to comparing what teams have accomplished.
Looking at regular season only is pertinent if the goal is to try to figure out scheduling issues (ie how fair are the schedules within a conference as well as conference to conference).

BAMA has always scheduled high profile non-conf teams. You do that you're going to play more highly ranked teams.

Well when you play 3 ranked teams in the post season, it definitely increases the strength of your scheule. Just compare it to the year before when Bama didn't make the post season. It would do the same for anyone, so It isn't necessarily a bad thing. It just doesn't measure the strength of your regularly scheduled games when you top it off with additional ranked teams. I am not trying to pick on Bama. I am sure if I took a look at Ohio State or any other team that has racked up a lot of post season games it would be the same.

If you go back before the playoffs you can bet BAMA was still at or near the top for playing ranked opponents.

I am sure they are. I was just pointing out that Bama is #1 by 3 games and they played 3 post season games against ranked teams last season, while Notre Dame played none. This gives Bama 8 games vs ranked opponents to Norte Dame's 4 in 2025.
Also Bama is at a disadvantage when it comes to the regular season because they are the most consistently ranked team in SEC history which gives everyone who plays them a ranked team on their schedule year in and year out, but they cannot schedule themselves. So they are probably going to play fewer ranked SEC Reg season games than most over the course of many years.

Guessing that probably puts UF at the top considering we've done nothing in the postseason in forever

Bama's high number is part this, but I do think it mostly comes from postseason games.
Games against Final AP Top 25 OOC opponents, played in the regular season during the BCS/Playoff era:
24- S Carolina

18- Oklahoma
16- Georgia
15- Texas A&M
13- Auburn
13- Tennessee
13- Texas
12- Ole Miss

You should do it based on points. For example, beating a top that finishes #1 gets 25 points, #2 24 points, etc.
But it doesnt penalize you for losses this way. So a team that’s 12-2 against the top 25 could potentially have a worse score than a team that’s 4-20 against the top 25

Uh? You get penalizing for losing by getting no points.
Otherwise, teams who sack up and play more final ranked teams get penalized.

Yes. Since 1998 (regular season; ranked at end of the year:
Florida has 18 games against FSU; 3 against Miami, and 1 against Utah.
South Carolina has 18 games against Clemson but one each against App State, NC State, North Carolina, South Florida, UCF, and Virginia.
