All that is happening is the SEC is establishing its authority to enforce its own policy

Nobody is getting kicked out. Zero votes to remove LSU, unless LSU intentionally violates SEC policy by paying professional players, as defined by the SEC policy. (A policy that LSU voted for!)
This isn't about removing LSU. It's about establishing the legal authority to do so.

The SEC already has the authority to do so.
It requires a vote of the 15 member universities.
This looks like a move by Sankey to supersede that by requiring only a vote of the 7 or 8 executive committee members.

But, in order to establish the authority to enforce its policy, the SEC sues LSU, who followed the policy?
thats strange.
LSU literally set the precedent that Texas followed, in following the SEC's new rule.

They already have the legal authority to remove members.
Seems like Sankey is attempting to give the commissioner/league office that power vs the member vote process that we all agreed to.

It always does but I don't believe for a minute that there's any intention of removing LSU. However the conference's ability to enforce its own rules was challenged by that lawsuit and local judges. The conference needs the right to enforce its own rules or having a conference is pointless.
It's not hard but it's also not a very exciting explanation.

My guess is that these are half-true and sensationalist headlines. If there is any truth to them, it is because the SEC is communicating to LSU just how far it's willing to take this.
But nobody is voting to remove LSU on Thursday. Maybe there will be something provisional passed, like voting to remove LSU if they play those players.

I think it's also posturing to try to get LSU to the settlement table and get them to agree to not roster these players and to stop the trolling.
They need that to happen before this Federal case gets before a judge, because any number of experts out there have presented its shortcomings.

But isn’t this just the players (and LSU following if the players are eligible) trying to get the definition of “professional players”?
