Saban has shown that he is a great coach with great recruiting skills. This has resulted in unprecedented success in the last decade.

He has become a celebrity and it now allows him to recruit nationally.

17 of his 22 commitments for this year from out of state.

Yeah and there are two upper tier D1 schools not to mention UAB & Troy all in the same state. La is dominated solely by LSU. The other schools collect the leftovers.

It's common knowledge that the state of Alabama is beneath La, tex, Florida ,Uga and maybe South Carolina in talent. Miss also has a higher per capita for nfl players

Add up all their national titles and compare them to Bama's.

If you grew up around gumps, you'd probably rather be a part of the Auburn family as well.

Browsing the Bama roster and was shocked,Is the state of Alabama short on football ready men? Entrance requirements to hard for in state kids?Would Alabama be as successful with an homegrown heavy roster?
--------------------------------------------------

Let's see now---Alabama has 3.6% of the national recruit base and Georgia has 6.8%, and Alabama has about 4.8 million people to Georgia's 9.9 million. I'd say that Alabama has a higher number of recruits per capita than Georgia, Scooter. Can you wrap that pea-brain around all this complicated info?

I feel as though an Alvin Kamara tweet from the bench is appropriate in this thread somehow.

What does that have to do with the amount of talent in Alabama? You GUMPS are the most insecure fan base on the planet. At no point was my post a shot at Bama's football program.
But yes all those programs have more national titles than Bama's 9.

Rick, I think you need to step away. I suggest a self imposed ban. Like I said last night, you're taking a message board too seriously, and I fear for your mental health. Please, for yourself, step away for a while.

Dude, we just like the Tide and the players that play for them. 1992 Bama NC team had a lot of Bama players, but they also had great players from around the surrounding States and from places like New York, Missouri, Maryland and Texas. We don't discriminate.

"Over the period of study Louisiana produced Division I-FBS recruits at almost two and a half times the national average. It ranked first in both average per capita rake and in median per capita rate, though it didn’t rank first in all years. Alabama is a strong runner up, having ranked first in two years (both 2013 and 2012, so maybe there is a trend starting)."

This seems to be a new trend. Snatching kids out of border states is one thing, pulling them from all over is another.

Don't get me wrong - as an Auburn fan I'm thrilled to see Saban set his sights elsewhere as he has been taking our lunch in recruiting for years. But the strategy is questionable. These kids seem to have more trouble adjusting and team chemistry often suffers.

Schools like Tenn, Notre Dame, Colorado and others have struggled with this concept in the past but those were schools that had to recruit nationally. Bama is not in that boat. They have proven that they can win by taking 12 of the top 20 in state and cherry picking 10 more from Miss, LA, TN, GA and FL.

Another thing people are forgetting about Bama going out of state is the advantages that can give not just the coach, but the school down the road. Saban goes to a HS in Cali,Ohio,ect.. gets a commitment from a kid and he turns into a NFL star, theres a connection from then on with Bama and that school/Saban and that coaching staff. You could argue that it would even help recruiting in other sports.

I would like to see more AL guys get offers but if you have a opportunity like Bama does atm to go in a bigtime HS program thats normally locked down by it's main home state college and take players/build connections, cant turn that down.
