Surprisingly, LSU looks like the best coached team we have had in many years. Low turnovers, better on penalties, far less time management and confusement on offense

Very well coached!

I admit, I laughed my arse off at the Steve Ensminger at OC hire - but the old silver fox calls up some nice plays that suit his players. I thought he was well passed his prime.

So, here is how TuaJesus and Hurtsalot performed vs those teams averages you so nicely supplied to us

Texas A&M : 8.59 (+2.20) (159%)
Arkansas St : 8.21 (+2.48) (143%)
Arkansas : 10.83 (+5.08) (188%)
Ole Miss : 7.17 (+1.29) (122%)
Missouri : 7.52 (+1.37) (122%)
Louisville : 7.63 (+1.46) (123%)
ULL : 9.81 (+2.95) (143%)

So, we average 143% of our opponents average YPP given up.

LSU gives up 5.13 YPP vs 1A opponents (#35 overall), so Alabama is looking at roughly 7.34 YPP vs LSU. LSU gives up an average of 70 plays against, Alabama averages about 67 plays, so we'll say Alabama runs 68 plays. Alabama averages about 0.095 points per yard against P5 teams, so that comes out to a grand total of

68 plays, 7.34 YPP, 499 yards, 47 points

Nice stats, I agree with the conclusion!

Yards per play doesn't exactly tell much of the story.

A&M allows 5.94 yards per play and 323.3 yards per game
NMSU allows 5.93 yards per play and 490.6 yards per game

Are you telling me NMSU has a better defense?

Against P5 teams (1 game) NMSU gave up 6.44 YPP against Minnesota. Minnesota averages 5.02 YPP vs P5 opponents. So Minnesota had 128% of their yearly average vs NMSU, and their yearly average isn't very good.

So, no, NMSU doesn't have a good defense. However, their total yardage number doesn't really tell me that. Those poor frickers are having to play an average of 83 plays per game. Of course they'd have higher yardage against.

I’m glad that my life doesn’t revolve around what 18-22 year olds do on a football field in the fall.

Alabama is in trouble if they only score 28 points. Just saying

LSU has scored more than 17 points against Bama exactly one time in the last 10 meetings. You have to go back to November 6, 2010.

This whole thread started with bullshite stats so an LSU fan could beat their chest.

It is not! It is a thread that presents SOLID data. Other replies have occurred with some additional solid data.

Just solid data all-around in this thread.

This thread should be held as the gold standard for solid threads.

This is, statistically, Bama's worst defense in the last 10 years.
