Thats a mistake.

Most people and voters are just counting wins.

While I know Georgia Tech is in the ACC, it's not like they are Florida State or Clemson. It's a lower-tier program that is closer to Kentucky than they are to Georgia's level.

The Bama / tOSU loser misses a 12 team playoff.

Yep, all these marquee OOC matchups were scheduled because SOS was supposed to be a deciding factor. Once the committee moved the goal posts this year, the cancellation dominoes inevitably fell.

Gotta love it when the UTrans fans are still whining about not making the playoffs last year and blaming it on a loss in an OOC game. They still seem to forget that they lost to Florida at home and went to OT with Kentucky.

Why? Indiana was the only undefeated team going into last years playoffs.

You think they'll both only lose one conference game?

Meh. Probably makes sense to cancel. I don’t care. Nor do I feel the need to try to understand why and / or explain it.

I've no idea. You have no idea either but you made a statement like you do. And I believe that 5 teams had 2 or more losses last year.

I don't care about this one game but I care if the best teams are afraid to play each other due to potentially missing out. It hurts the fans.

You can't deny the direct correlation between that decision and the tidal wave of cancellations that've taken place since. So, yeah, I'm whining. But, I'm whining about losing yet another Saturday of real CFB in the fall.

Alabama tried to cancel the harder game. But optics made them look like they were scared of Ohio state. Bama then was able to cancel the ok state game.

The decline, and it is a decline, of the SEC has hit Georgia more than anyone.

They adapted the Alabama recruiting strategy and perfected it. They were the very best in the country in gaming the system.

And now anyone can do it. In fact quite a few schools have deeper war chests than even Georgia.

The truth is we have to blow up the old way of doing things. Rolling out 4-5 stars three deep is deader than the dinosaurs. Now you have to get bang for your buck. You can't afford to sit a 5 star on the bench who is actually a turd.

The SEC will adapt. But right now its worse for Georgia because they were fantastic at how things used to be.

people should be celebrating the fact that we're actually getting OOC regular season games of this caliber.

This. I like actual marquee matchups. At the end of the day, it's all just entertainment. Some people might be ok playing the weakest possible schedule that let's them sneak into the cfp, but good grief, I like exciting matchups. I look forward to Ohio St and Notre Dame playing in BDS.

That being said...the cfp has to somehow truly value playing these big games...just counting wins/losses is ridiculously stupid. You don't even need a committee for that.

Except GT defeated Clemson last year and beat FSU the year before.

They are actually pretty equivalent at this point to both of those schools.

So if a program upsets a program they are now equal? I mean, we have won a national title in Basketball, so we are now better than Duke, UNC, Kentucky in your eyes? Just seeing if the two thoughts connect, seems like they should.

Trying to make Georgia Tech sound like a legitimate opponent

Well Alabama is also scheduled to play Georgia Tech in 2030 and 2031. I guarantee we absolutely crush them.
