Must be anticipating a 24-team playoff.

made the correct call. Why on earth shoudl we go through a 9 game SEC gauntlet plus our built in finale against anotehr P4 team, prior to an SECCG and expanded playoff? it's illogical and irrational to make things even harder on yourself if you don't have to.
Texas likely makes the playoffs last year if they wax a tomato can in the opener instead of losing to ohio state.

Bama should have canceled.

Sorry, just wanted to provide an update because some other fanbases were concerned:
Ohio State AD calls out Alabama for trying to cancel 2027 matchup
Are you embarrassed that Alabama is trying to cancel their '27/'28 games vs Ohio State ?

So then why try to reschedule it as a neutral-site game instead?

I'd be afraid to play a P4 team that has only beaten me four times this century.

And, once again, what the average CFB fan wants is treated as irrelevant.

I would assume money, but I agree with you that it flies in the face of what makes sense.
Either play the game home and home, or cancel it entirely. Still playing it, but in a way that's much shittier and more bland and boring for everyone involved (fans and players alike) is just utterly stupid. I assume it's for money/NIL purposes which makes me hate it even more.

It's not about being "afraid", it's common sense. We have to play an ACC team every year while most other SEC teams can play 3 cupcakes if they so choose. We only have the ability to play 2 of them.
Tech has averaged 8 wins the last 3 year of key's tenure which is a lot better competition than some directional U that other teams will have on their scheudle instead.

Incorrect.
We now only get two "cupcakes" a year now that we are all required to play nine conference games and a P4 team. While I know Georgia Tech is in the ACC, it's not like they are Florida State or Clemson. It's a lower-tier program that is closer to Kentucky than they are to Georgia's level.

What a way to break in a new coach.

I think Kiffin should be able to handle it without a problem.

Bc uga already has a p4 team scheduled. Why you think Alabama canceled ok state? Bc they don’t want to play 2 p4 and 1 cup cake. With a 9 conference game schedule, teams only have 3 ooc games. And fsu already play UF every year.

Why do I think Alabama canceled the easier game while retaining the significantly more difficult game (btw, OK St was for '28/'29)? I don't know, but people should be celebrating the fact that we're actually getting OOC regular season games of this caliber.

Make way more money playing a one-off neutral site game than risking two years of games vs a P4 from which you only get 1 game’s worth of financial return.
We hve future games set up with Ohio State and Clemson, curious what we do with those.

Ole Miss is doing the same thing. Sort of.
We aren't backing down from hosting Oregon State in Oxford in 2027 and traveling out to Corvallis in 2030.

As of this moment, GT is better than both. I’m just saying.
The 9-game conference schedule has backed the four conference teams with an OOC rival into a scheduling corner. It’s not just about SOS. It’s also about the number of home games.
The only OOC UGA should consider for a home and home other than GT is Clemson, and that should be done infrequently, unfortunately.
